Another Sexually Charged House Page Scandal
The Washington Post ^ | DEcemberf 7, 2007 | Mary Ann Akers

Posted on 12/07/2007 6:44:30 AM PST by libstripper

So much for reform of the House page program in the wake of the Mark Foley scandal. House teenage pages are so wild and unsupervised that two GOP members of Congress have resigned from the House Page Board, protesting that they were not informed of two pages caught shoplifting and two others busted for engaging in public oral sex.

One of the members who resigned, Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite of Florida, tells the Sleuth that she felt "very, very uncomfortable" both as a mother and a grandmother continuing to serve on a board she feels is inadequately supervised.

More evidence that the "Foley scndal" was just another scam used by the DemonRats to keep gullible Pubbies from voting in the '06 election.

Yup. Making it a national issue is only appropriate when the GOP is involved. Put the Dems in charge, and anything goes.

I’m just glad they didn’t have the headline: “Sex scandal in House! 2 GOP lawmakers resign!”

One of the incidents that bothered Brown-Waite involved what she called "inappropriate sexual indiscretions" between two teenaged pages. She would not elaborate, though she said other pages served as "enablers." A source familiar with the incident - which resulted in the expulsions of two pages - said one female page performed oral sex on a male page in the page dorm room as the other teenagers watched.

This sounds familiar. I seem to recall the same thing happening in some other government (oval) office in the 90's. Anyone else remember the details? ;o)

I predict we will start seeing stories on this that will spend 75% of the time ‘reflecting’ on other similar scandals, and focus only on Foley- ignoring the Democrats.

Isn’t her position on the Board to supervise the pages? Is she quitting because she cannot do her job?

I think the question is, is she allowed to supervise the Pages, what with the Dims in charge of Congress.

Maybe so, but it worked precisely because there was a problem. By all accounts everyone in the leadership knew about Foley's homosexuality and did nothing about it. The republican voters correctly saw this as yet another example of contempt for their values - fresh on the heels of the immigration fiasco. You can't blame the Democrats when our guys really are hypocrites.

Boring. Now if it had been two female pages, I might have watched.

“Why don’t they just get rid of the pages?”

They need to end the whole page system but...as Will Rogers and others have said, “the closest thing to immortality here on earth is a government program”.

Does anyone remember an instance where Democrats resigned in moral outrage over something?
