Paul Gives Vets What They Want, Skips Iraq Opposition Politico is reporting that Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, is sending out campaign material to South Carolina vets, but omits his opposition to the Iraq war. It seems like this is a high selling point for Paul, who often mentions the donations hes had streaming in from troops and veterans.
Paul does come out and state his opposition to invading Iran, but that a piece focused on national security would not make any mention his stance against the Iraq war is striking.
That it may, just may, have something to do with the fact that South Carolina is a military and retiree-heavy state is reenforced by other flashes of GOP politics-as-usual: a shot of a young Paul in uniform, a picture of Paul with a vet, a Ronald Reagan quote and promises to improve the VA.
Ron Paul: Just another pol? Ron Paul is sending a defense and veterans-focused mail piece into South Carolina homes that doesn't mention the chief calling card of his campaign -- his opposition to the Iraq war. In fact, the piece touts at the top that Paul "Pushed for an official Declaration of War with Iraq." Now this is true, but he did so only because he takes a literal interpretation of the Constitution. This is the only mention of Iraq, though, so it may leave a South Carolina voter who is uninformed about Paul's anti-war views to think he merely wanted a congressional green light to topple Saddam and was fully on board with shock-and-awe. Paul does come out and state his opposition to invading Iran, but that a piece focused on national security would not make any mention his stance against the Iraq war is striking. Of course, lest you Paul'ites fear your guy is going conventional and giving in to The Man there is also a promise that a President Paul would never let our troops "serve under a U.N. flag."

No convictions and a coward. If Paul was so strong in his beliefs the Iraq war is wrong, why omit it when asking for money? My disdain for this man and his followers grows daily.
Is this guy mocking just Paul or pretty much everyone on FR who thinks no US soldier should serve under a UN flag.
I recall there being a similar belief back when the Contract with America was proposed. Lol. Crazy guy.
Yes. Note the ad used when soliciting Arab support. Paul's opposed to all foreign aid, but that message comes out, well, selectively. Dishonestly actually.

Of course if you don't support Paul, you're not a good American.
The military-industrial complex, the biased media, the big banks, the Fed, the waterboarders, and the IRS dont like what were doing. But every good American is applauding us, and daring to hope for a better future.
As opposed to a LIBERAL view of the constitution? Geez, can't you Paul haters figure what you believe?
No, I think he's suggesting this is a lie by omission, which it is.
BTW, are you suggesting that our troops in Iraq are serving under a UN flag? That's going to come as news to a lot of people. Most aren't stupid enough to believe that, othere that current Paul supporters perhaps.
I'd suggest using Afghanistan for an example, NATO is involved there.
I know what I believe.
I believe an Authorization to Use Military Force works just fine.
Is that a liberal view confined to Paul haters?
Congressman Paul voted for a Authorization to Use Military Force
Is Ron Paul a liberal Paulhater?
SJackson, as you know it is quite clear that you cannot serve under someone who has not taken a oath to the US Constitution.
As far as I know, no one under Nato or the UN has done that.
And that was not a Paul campaign ad.
It wasn't his ad, babe.
Bush fanboys bitching about other people's spending amuse me.
Makes him a shameless coward, one that hides his personal beliefs in search of the all mighty (campaign) dollar.
I guess you can’t find federally funded shrimp in the constitution? Dr. Do Nothing says it is because it okay to fund shrimp in his district.
Male Bushbots give me the creeps.
Your fellow Paul supporters are dropping like flies around here. Watch out for the swatter.
Bro, I've been on this site a lot longer thaan you have. Color me unintimidated. I'm not even a Paul supporter anyway. I just like him on a lot of issues not having to do with foreign policy.
I can't find education mentioned in the Constitution either, but I'm sure you'll find some way to defend No Child Left Behind.
