Broder's Recommendation to Republicans: McCain-Huckabee
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

"A camel is a horse designed by committee." -- ascribed to Sir Alexander Arnold Constantine Issigonis.

Perhaps the only thing more likely to yield ungainly results than design by committee is letting a Democrat design a Republican presidential ticket. In "Principles Among the GOP Pack," David Broder tries his hand at it in today's WaPo. The result is a double-humped dromedary known as McCain-Huckabee.

Let’s see if I have this right:

Broder wants us to vote for a president who won’t let us talk about candidates just before the elections, and a vice-president who won’t let us eat cheeseburgers.

Yeah, right.

Liberals picking our nominee for us... it’s the new trendy pastime of the left.

Take a hike, Broder. We’ll call you when we need you. (Don’t hold your breath.)

McCain-Huckabee?

Guaranteed amnesty + taxes through the roof.

Great. That's just peachy.

I think it was Broder who advised President Bush to dump Cheney in 2004 “before it was too late”.

Every time I see David Broder he strikes me as one of those people that I hope WILL be holding his breath if I ever meet him. Yuck.

We could do worse than McCain and Huckabee.

I would at least vote for this combo. The War Hero and the Pro-Life candidate would be attractive at least. Not my first choice but could live with it.

McCain-Huckabee

We won’t have a border by the end of that first term.

==

I don’t see any team that is going to give the GOP the White House. The main contenders are too extreme, right or left; and the GOP is not known as a party of ‘inclusion’. That is going to cause a split that could make the trip a cakewalk for the Dem nominee.

Possibly, the Hillary nomination could force Pubbies/Independents to vote for the GOP-whomever, but too many will just say, “Been there, did that, got the finger from GOP and GWB again and again,” as they sit this one out.

He is an utter and complete nincompoop, and a clown that walks around with a fake veneer of Journalistic Professionalism.

On Queen (and DNC-MSM-demanded 3rd Clinton Presidential term) Hillary
"As to international policy, we learned along the way that (Hillary) Clinton is more hard-line than her main rivals,
not only on her willingness to keep a substantial residual force in Iraq,
butalso in her belief that national security trumps human rights as a priority for foreign policy."

On BJClinton, and Meet the Press.
"There are some conservatives who dislike (Impeached Bill) Clinton intensely and personally,
more who disagree with his policies. And there are also conservatives who think
(Impeached Bill) Clinton has moved in their direction on some issues and are ready to work with him.
I think it is very hard to generalize about conservatives or liberals. They come in all forms.
.... Meet the Press is in the business of giving people news (ROTFLOL) ... and I didn't think Drudge's appearance furthered that goal."

Why would a defeatocrat sympathizer try to advise conservatives who should run against hitlery? Oh, right, effete snobbery.

And what conservative is dumb enough to blindly follow that advice?

McCain a war hero?

HERO - long sandwich: a sandwich made from a long roll or loaf of bread with a filling of meat and cheese with lettuce and tomato.

Yes, that fits.
