Today, I saw Presidential Candidate, Fred Thompson for the very first time at a Rally in California!
Master-of-Ceremonies, John Ziegler, had the crowd laughing at jokes and insights about the upcoming election.
The crowd of several hundred supporters rallied around Thompson after he spoke clearly about why the Democrats are ruining this great country.
Fred Thompson stood a literal head above the crowd, as he shook hands with the crowd at the events end.
John Ziegler brought up an important issue in his introductions... The most important issue is to stop Hillary from winning the presidency!
I wish more of the candidates would bring up this important point. Whether we are Democrat or Republican, or independent, what really matters is the survival of America and our freedoms guaranteed under the constitution!
Does Fred Thompson have the "Right Stuff" to Stop Hillary?
In 2008... we will see. We will see.
To give Fred a chance at victory, see his site... http://www.fred08.com/

It was this morning in Laguna Woods.
Many people read about it in their local paper, and other’s found out through John Ziegler’s mailing list, he sent out flyers and invited many of his fans.
There were several hundred people in the auditorium, very nice group, some press and TV.
To get on Ziegler’s mailing list... see http://johnziegler.com
Oh yeah... the Zigman is putting a documentary together to expose the Clinton Administrations role in terrorism! Due out next spring.
Yes, Good Guys are out there!

The emcee was John Ziegler, well known for his efforts in LA talk radio. His job was to warm up the crowd of over 300. He never had an easier job. That crowd hit the auditorium rearing to go! I talked to some old friends from the Rush Fan Club, who all agreed that we are newly energized now that we get to vote for a true conservative. John Z reminded us that FRED was the only actor on the CNN debate set, that was NOT acting. FRED impressed me most with his tax plan. I expect the Libs to start attacking him any minute - being the finest kind of compliment. I noticed the ABC truck in the parking lot - perhaps we will see Fred on the local evening news!

I like a number of FDT’s positions and statements but I have continued substantial concern whether he is a genuine Conservative fiscally and Constitutionally, Rush Limbaugh notwithstanding. Fred seems uncomfortably comfortable with big government as I commented on previously here:

“Right position about scofflaws, wrong (NANNY STATE) philosophy and thus a VERY wrong ‘solution’ as a result. Federal funding of ANYTHING nonessential dilutes state and citizen sovereignty. The Fed should keep our money stable, win our wars, honor our Vets, prosecute federal criminals including traitors and spies—and stay out of everything else.”

Thanks for the report. I just read another thread posted by another FReeper who was there, too.
Maybe some photos will turn up later. Go Fred!

Time to kick the record player! Your faux sympathetic statements repeated verbatim in so many threads are really not going to help whoever it is you are supporting.

That’s stupid. The funding is already in place. A President can’t just arbitrarily start changing that sort of thing.
He’ll use whatever leverage he has. That’s good.

I repeated my earlier comment once. No need or desire to spam threads here. Looking deep for real Conservatives.
The POTUS has a better chance than anyone else to use the bully pulpit and advocate small-government principles. That’s part of genuine conservatism. Nope he can’t do it alone, of course.
Cheers.

If that post of yours that you linked to was supposed to suffice as evidence for your position that "Fred seems uncomfortably comfortable with big government", then it ain't getting the job done.
I have taken a long look at Fred's record, and while I do not agree with everything he has done (CFR being notable) I find myself in agreement about 95% of the time. I find him to be correct and on the conservative side of:
1. Taxes
2. Spending
3. Abortion
4. Military
5. Right-to-life issues generally
6. Immigration
7. Judges
8. WOT
9. Global Warming
If you are looking for perfection, it does not exist.
If you are looking for a consistent conservative who can win this election, you have found him in Fred!
