California Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer is blocking the nomination of former Republican Congressman James Rogan to the federal bench, due largely to Rogans leading role in the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.
Rogan served in the U.S. House from 1997 to 2001, and due to his background as a prosecutor, was selected as one of 13 House managers for the impeachment trial.
U.S. Rep. Rogan was one of the most enthusiastic backers of impeachment he thought President Clinton had committed high crimes and misdemeanors, Boxers spokeswoman Natalie Ravitz said.

amen brother.
I hate it when elections have consequences. Dang it! Learn from 06, No Rudies though!!!!!
Barbara Boxer isn’t fit to carry Rogan’s gun cleaning kit.
Funny, but I don’t even recall hearing his name. If he was so damned influential in Clinton’s impeachment, why wasn’t the leftist media attacking and blasting him and his name 24/7 since that year? Something is fishy here.
Sounds like he’s the kind of man we desperately need, though!
Isn’t this nepotism, since Barbara Boxer is or was related to hillary?
I had a hard time googling to confirm this. I suspect that someone has been fiddling with Google again.
But I found this: “. . . Boxer based on the grounds that her daughter, Nicole, is married to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s brother, Tony”
Reading the article, Boxer also objects to the man’s positions on various issues, including gun control.
Seriously, the Senate’s role is not to determine what policy positions the President’s appointees have.
You can imagine what this hag would be screaching about if the situation were reversed.
Don’t you just love seeing this stain on the character of the United States pass judgement on another person?
What is a real shame, is that the charges weren’t better defined by the House, and the Senate didn’t hold the impeachement trial.
Bill Clinton should have been removed from office and placed in prison for his actions that are on the record.
He was one of my heroes during that time. His questioning of ohters and his analysis were models of statesmanship. And his courage!! His district was Hollywood, if I recall, and he knew that his public stance for impeachment meant his defeat in the 2000 election; but he went ahead anyway. A great man.
Rogan was fun to watch. It was also fun to watch Maxine Waters try and interrupt him when he was on a roll.
Martha Stewart went to jail for less. I recall a republican majority leader that lost his job and was indicted for less.
What does Nancy think is an impeachable offense, exactly? Lying? Noooooo.... Ethics violations? Nooooooooo... Going to war? YES!!!!!!
Going to war is what Nancy thinks is an impeachable offense. Nevermind the mass murder of hundreds of thousands by tyrannical dictators. Forget 9/11. Forget tyrannical dictators and human rights. Nevermind freedom. Nobody bombed America...I mean, Saddam didn’t bomb America.
No surprise here.
He is a good man , lets hope bush does not leave him twisting like some of the others...
He was influential. The left DID go nuts. The 2000 race, in which Democrat Adam Schiff beat Rogan, is still the most expensive House race in history -- Democratic donors from around the country poured money into the race in order to beat the hated Rogan. The two spent nearly $12,000,000 when all was said and done, not counting independent expenditures.
Just before the impeachment hearings, the media was callling Rogan a dead duck if he doesn’t stop the impeachments. Rogan said I’m going to do what is right and I don’t care what happens. Rogan is a true profile of courage.
“he thought President Clinton had committed high crimes and misdemeanors,
Uh, Babs? So did the Arkansas Bar and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Useless. It would only be short term.
I would prefer that Rogan milk the publicity for all it's worth and then run against that stupid p.o.s. Boxer.
Ironicly impeachment played little in Rogan’s defeat. Gray Davis and Schiff pandered excessively to the Armenian community in the district. As result, the Armenians poured out for Schiff.
Excellent point!
BTW, Bill Clinton’s law license was suspended for five years. Is it valid again?
