It's amazing, Mike Huckabee is one of the few politicians who would give the time of day to FR,
Gov. Huckabee's Thank you Letter to FReeper
and yet by some on FR they in mindless hyperbolic posts basically compare him to the plague.
JMO, some FReepers prove the axioms of "fair weather friends" and "no good deed goes unpunished" and also "watch your back", very true.
Bless his heart.
I've been meaning to ask you if your contributions to LaRaza and MEChA are tax deductable, since they claim to be non profit organizations?
------
So capitalism, national sovereignty, and individual liberty don't matter much to you.
Well, then Huckabee probably IS your man.
Scary stuff....hope there aren't many like you.
Hank
Huckabee is my second choice after Thompson. Unfortunately I don’t think Thompson will be in the race by the time it gets to Oregon.
Huckabee reminds me of Jimmy Carter. He looks like my next door neighbor. He’s too average — too normal. He doesn’t command respect when he enters a room. He looks like a pastor. He’s not Presidential enough for me. He doesn’t have that “thing” I need to see — the statesmanship — the “presence” — to be POTUS. I’m sure he’s a great guy. I don’t really think he has the same values I do when it comes to running the country and representing conservatives.
But even if he did — the lack of seeming Presidential is something I can’t get past with him.
You think Fred is going to bail? That’s interesting. I disagree. I think he’ll go all the way. We’ll see.
I hope you are right.

ARKANSAS REPUBLICANS ON HUCKABEES LEADERSHIP:
“For the past 14 years, I have watched Mike Huckabee lead our state. He fought the Democrat machine in Arkansas and brought honor and dignity to our highest office. He has campaigned long and hard for our Republican candidates to help build a better Arkansas .”
—former U.S. Congressman., impeachment manager, and FR hero Asa Hutchinson
“The two main reasons I support Gov. Huckabee for President are the fact that he has always been pro-life and he has more than 10 years of executive experience Gov. Huckabee far outdistances himself from the other candidates by his outstanding moral values and conservative convictions.”
—former U.S. Congressman Jay Dickey
“My experience with Gov. Huckabee that of a man who was thoughtful and well reasoned in his decisions, “ Arkansas is much better off because Mike Huckabee was our Governor. He is the best choice for president and I completely support his candidacy.”
—Former Represenatative Doug Matayo
“I have known Governor Huckabee for many years, and at one time, I served as his Chief Legal Counsel He is a true leader, who makes firm, informed decisions based on simple standards of right and wrong and what is best for the citizens who elected him. He owns his decisions and doesn’t need to take a poll before deciding to do what’s right. He has been so successful with his straightforward approach that it makes you wonder why more of these people don’t try it.”
—former U.S. Attorney Bud Cummins .
“I had the privilege of serving for eight years in the legislature during the Huckabee administration Anyone who saw his leadership during the Hurricane Katrina relief effort had to be impressed by the way he was able to organize the resources of the state to provide relief and comfort to the tens of thousands of evacuees.”
— Senator Shawn Womack
“I’m proud to have these fellow Republicans on my team,” Huckabee said. “Their support, combined with the growing momentum of the campaign, will give us what we need for a strong showing in Iowa and the early primary states.”
MYTH: Huckabee destroyed the Arkansas Republican Party
FACT: Arkansas has ALWAYS been a one-party DemocRAT state and Huckabee was one of only three Republicans to buck the tide and be elected Governor since reconstruction. The Arkansas Encylopedia describes his tenure as such: During his ten years in office, the Republican Party GAINED substantial strength in the state and candidates were fielded in most statewide races. Huckabees overall popularity helped make the environment favorable for Arkansas to become one of the last Southern states to become a competitive two-party system at the state level
How do you explain all the ethical questions about his activities while in office ?
And I don't see a whole lot of business people on that list.
He did a fine job in the debate last night, though.
From DCP's vanishing freeper profile..."I am hopelessly liberal on illegals".
I apply that to issues on all these candidates by asking myself who had to live with them and who knows them best to gain insight for my own opinions.
While the insight may not replace personal decision making, it certainly tempers it and for that I have a long list of members I greatly appreciate.
Consider yourself as always on that list.
In the original question, “he” is Huckabee, not you, you self-absorbed doofus.
Yes, I understand that you believe children should be left in the lurch, but that is not conservatism, that is what gives conservatism a bad name.
No, CONSERVATISM would have never allowed this situation where children are here who should not have been in the first place.

Nice.
Too bad she doesn’t have a functioning brain.
My concerns with Huckabee deeal with illegal aliens.
However, again, if he gets nominated, I will work very hard to help him defeat Hitlery.
But these children HAVE grown up here. Huckabee is a conservative who recognizes that fact.
I agree with you.
Huckabee could be anybody’s pastor in anywhere, USA. He’s a great speaker in how he gets the listener to identify with him and to chuckle a lot. But he’s unpresidential.
Some might not like me for saying this, if so, sorry folks, but his boffo one-liner about sending Hillary to Mars is a perfect example of what I’m talking about. I don’t care how we feel about Hillary or how big a laugh the line got. It screams “out of place” in a debate for who’s going to be nominated to run for President of the United States.
Reagan had a great sense of humor and gift of gab. At the same time he was the very essence of presidential. He would’ve never dreamed of saying what Huckabee said.
This is their parents fault, not ours. Why should we be made to suffer to assuage your conscience over your coddling of criminals?
Rule of Law is a "conservative" stance. Coming up with excuses to subvert the law, as you are doing, most certainly is not...
