Why has Mike Huckabee turned to something akin to the plague by some on FR?
FR postings | November 28, 2007 | Dane

It's amazing, Mike Huckabee is one of the few politicians who would give the time of day to FR,

Gov. Huckabee's Thank you Letter to FReeper

and yet by some on FR they in mindless hyperbolic posts basically compare him to the plague.

JMO, some FReepers prove the axioms of "fair weather friends" and "no good deed goes unpunished" and also "watch your back", very true.

See Post #3. Kudos to Travis for reminding us.

I heard on Glen Beck that Huckabee was teaming up with Rudi to be his vice-president. Based on their very compatible views with the Mexicanization of America, I wouldn't doubt.

Calm down...I was only giving an example of how my emotions have over-taken some of my conservative values because I am pregnant.

WOW! But really, don't worry yourself too much about my emotional state at this moment and time as I was really just making an observation that I can see how easy it is to let your emotions over-take your thinking.

Review some of my past posts and you will see what a border hawk I was/or am...I don't know anymore....LOL!

If you had read the very next sentence after the one you quoted, you would have seen "That is how emotional I have become. So for right now, I will hold off on making any major decisions, because I did NOT feel that way before I got pregnant. "

Are Hispanics the only illegal aliens here ? No, so don’t start that racist bs.

Illegal is illegal, period, no matter your religion, race, ethnicity, etc.

The thing to remember about issues like the environment and “mommy” issues is that our attention, the attention of our fellow citizens, and time will always give us better solutions to these problems than government.

You are so right and I try to remember that. Coming to FR helps me remember how I used to think and I am sure will return to once my hormones settle down. The world just seems much scarier since I became pregnant.

Just because Huckabee said some nice things about FR doesn't mean I have to support him.

Huckabee is a flip-flopper on the AK smoking ban, playing to the crowd in supporting rights, then turning around and supporting the ban for whatever reasons.

Huckabee has turned into a health nanny since he lost weight, supporting mandated bans on trans fats etc.

Huckabee raised taxes on Arkansans.

Huckabee is weak on border control.

And personally, Huckabee said I (anybody who wouldn't hold infidelity against Guiliani) owe Bill Clinton an apology. I know some people here agreed with that point of view, but I do not. Infidelity is between Bill and Hill or Rudy and his wives. Rudy is no rapist though and I hold that against Clinton, along with selling out the country for Chinese campaign money etc.

I don't like Huckabee's faux conservatism or some of his personal attitudes. If he were to win the (R) nomination, I'd support him just the same as any other (R) in order to keep a socialist out of the White House, but that's the only way I'd vote for him for anything.

Good reasons or not they're MY reasons and at least I have some reasons. No matter what nice thing he has to say about anything I'm not changing my mind.

ishabibble: “Now, if you look at all the responses in this thread, about a third are comments on Paris Hilton and her fake chest. What does that tell you about our “conservative” focus?”

It tells us we can focus on more than one thing at a time.

...and Bush wasn’t at fault for the illegal alien amnesty, Harriet Miers, increased spending, etc., because he was too busy “focusing” on the WOT...

Look up tthe word "pander" in a dictionary. Then google up "huckabee illegal aliens" for things like this: Huckabee wanting instate tuition for illegals.

No harm done....I know the illegal immigrant issue is a hot-button topic and can be emotional. Which is why I won’t make any major decisions while I feel that my emotions are over-ruling my conservative thinking process.

“Why compromise on these other issues when you don’t have to?”

Because I’m not sure the other candidates are as sincere on my core beliefs. Also, a good friend who is retiring from the Army after 25 years (just returned from Iraq) - a full Colonel - a native of Arkansas - someone who has known Huckabee since 1973....endorses Governor Huckabee. I trust my friend’s judgement.

Actually, I have never heard Huckabee speak. I’m living in an area with poor TV reception and I get no TV here. I’m too much a cheapskate to pay for cable. So, except for the internet, I’m cut off from the MSM and debates, etc.

I took a political test online...however accurate those are...and my candidate was Duncan Hunter. I do like much of what he says. I am keeping an eye on him. Of course, in the end, I will support the Republican nominee.

This might be the first time someone sent their own thread off-topic in the first post. I’m impressed.

I will not support anyone who is a nanny-statist and who raises taxes. Like I said, enough is enough already. I very much appreciate President Bush giving the American taxpayers a little tax cut. I am a fiscal and freedom-loving conservative before I am a social conservative. It’s very easy to talk a social conservative game, but ultimately it comes down to everyone’s personal responsibility.

The nanny state doesn’t use a paddle - it uses the point of a gun.

If you believe in freedom, a tax raising big government open borders type will not help you keep it.

This board went nasty quite awhile ago and people haven't turned off the animosity.

Do you mean with comments like this:

"You all are amazing, in either backstabbing or just total ignorance".
