Nope, because he’s not going to win the nomination.

Let’s be realist, the guy needs to replace Jay Leno, not be President.

Not only social conservatives, but small-l libertarians as well. Nobody likes an authoritarian.

Rudy's nominated = 3rd party

If Guiliani wins the nomination and y’all don’t support him or vote third party you might as well be voting for Hillary.

And yes she is much, much worse. Guiliani will pick conservative judges — given that the next president has at least two supreme court picks — that is huge.

No, millions of conservatives need to change their values so we can get the honor of being lead by this liberal New Yorker. The 9-11 millionaire can go to hell.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, Rudy gets the nomination--why does that mean The End of Conservatism in the Republican Party?

We have a Republican president now who was BELOVED of religious conservatives especially--and most of what you read about him here is hate for him.

Before him, his father--no conservative he.

Before him RWR--the epitome of conservatism as we know it now.

Before him, Richard Nixon--anyone who thinks he was a conservative doesn't know the meaning of the word.

So why will one non-conservative again mean "the end of conservatism" in this party? Are we THAT weak that we can't argue the issues and make the case for our conservative values? We don't get our way, so we stomp off, tossing the election (and who knows how many more) to the democrats?

How will this benefit the conservative movement?

It looks like it happened in Calif as the state party is so short of money they no longer can fund county chapters.

This staunch supporter of the Second Amendment will never vote for a gun grabber like Giuliani. Or Romney, for that matter.

Will Giuliani drive social conservatives from the GOP?

Perhaps not permanently, but he'll sure drive 'em away from the polls come election day.

IF God forbid it’s Guiliani, then I am of the belief that it is far better to join him and thus have a hand on the tiller, than to just simply walk away and make it clear to him that we are totally irrelevant (i.e. he was able to win without us).

That way we can at least have a hope of guiding his Presidency in some crucial or having some small influence. In a world where the reality is that you simply can’t always win... that is the best course of action.

The alternative is to not support Guiliani and end up with President Hillary by default.

Face it, people, the MSM has been driving the GOP front runners because of any of the following :

1) They support Amnesty even if they don't admit it.

2) They support big government health care administration.

3) They have untenable liberal positions on social issues guaranteed to drive the off conservative base.

4) They have a record that stands against conservative principles that will guarantee a Hillary presidency due to lack of turnout.

Which is the only reason they get vast amounts of air time versus qualified conservatives such as Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter, who are noticeably "blacked out" by the media. Particularly Fred, who is either ignored or attacked in a concerted effort to paint him as "Lazy" despite his high polling numbers in LARGE conservative states.

Oh, I should toss McCain in there with Rudy, Romney and Huckabee. McCain positions don't matter as much as the fact that he's an unstable nutjob who collaborates with the other side so often they need to put up a crossing sign in the senate.

this question has a forgone conclusion of yes.

assume for the moment that he is nominated. It will be pure poison to other candidates. Giuliani will drive money AWAY from republican candidates. The GOP party fundraising will be deader than bob dole’s 1996 campaign.

Giuliani loses on immigration, he loses on homosexual based marriage, he loses on gun control, and yes he even loses on NYC. (did you know hillary was senator on 9/11)

It is not just the money, it is also on time and effort. Human capital. Giuliani does not get the volunteers. Giuliani is only viable for those one issue anti-hillary clinton who don’t yet comprehend Giuliani IS Hillary in the GOP primary.

Giuliani is an engine of defeat.

No Giuliani, NO PROBLEM.

In answer to the question, YES he will drive away the Repblican base.

These resurrecting dinosaurs would love nothing better than to run the social conservatives out of the party on the bet that the Rockefeller Republicans can split the leftist vote with the Democrats, and the Christians et al will just go quiescent and cede everything to the Radicals..
