I had a feeling that when this law was tested that it would be overturned. Yet, I have to say that in Leavenworth, KS there are many parks, places where kids play and when you do a drive by of the registered sex offenders some have a front door seat to the school, park and church.
It would be hard to enforce but we need to do something, our kids need to be protected.
Of course, the first line of protection is parents staying involved with their kids.

A proper judgment by the court. The “hard on OMG PEDOPHILES AND RAPISTS”-pandering lead to inane laws.

Whitaker, now 28, is on the sex offender registry because at age 17 she engaged in consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old boy on school property. This woman clearly does not need to be on any sort of a sex offenders list for the rest of her life. Is there no cure for that sort of thing??

To offer a counter-trend thought, if the restrictions are too broad, sex-offenders will find very few places in a given city to live. If they’re going to be on the streets, they will end up congregating in the few compliant addresses where they are allowed. Are we better off if they end up associating with one another by necessity. I’m not sure dense-packing sex-offenders is in any city’s best interest.

As I’ve said before, make California (and ONLY California) “Liberal Land”. Send ALL pedophiles, rapists, transgenders, homosexuals and liberals there. That is the ONLY area in this country where they are allowed to live and they can’t have any contact whatsoever with the rest of the U.S. If they so much as set foot across the state line (which naturally would be land mined and patrolled) shoot them on sight.

Probably a good decision. This law is as foolish and unenforceable as gun-free zones.

actually the way I read it, it is valid but for the “you must move if after the fact...” provisions.
IOW if an offender moves to a desserted area which gets built up, he/she/it would not have to move. IOW the have to comply when moving but not keep moving if the neighborhood changes.
Of course cities should register all potential children’s bus stops for the present or future so as to prevent this as much as possible. (ALL potential stops)

Keep them in jail in the first place. Never let them out, and for my opinion, they can be shot at sunrise on the day after their conviction. These people NEVER change. They cannot be corrected. They are pure scum and need to be eliminated.
