Probably a good decision. This law is as foolish and unenforceable as gun-free zones.
It is also worrisome as more and more crimes become categorized as "sex offenses" (public urination, soliciting a prostitute, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, etc...).
Furthermore, contrary to popular mythology, the recidivism rate of misdemeanor sex offenders is actually quite low. Most of these people are shamed into better behavior. And your violent serial rapists and child molesters shouldn't be running free in the first place!
