11/09/2007 Kerry Spokesman Sets Limbaugh Straight on Swiftboat Smears
WASHINGTON D.C. Kerry spokesman David Wade issued the following statement today in response to Rush Limbaugh, who said on his radio show that Kerrys Swift Boat attackers in 2004, were right on the money and nobody has disproven anything they claimed in any of their ads, statements, written commentaries, or anything of the sort.
At first I thought, thats not Rush, thats just the OxyContin talking. Nonetheless, this is a despicable but unsurprising new lie from a man whose closest brush with combat came when customs officials tried to take away his Viagra. This portly peddler of hate is once again wrong on the facts. John Kerry served his country with honor in Vietnam, and has fought for his fellow veterans ever since. The lies and smears of the Swift Boat Veterans for Bush were disproved conclusively in 2004 by the men who fought by John Kerrys side in Vietnam, by the militarys own records, by investigative journalists, and by the incredible contradictions that exposed these right wing smear artists. It is long past time that we end the politics of fear and smear that we have seen used against decorated veterans from John McCain to Max Cleland and John Kerry. Rush Limbaughs ignorance and determination to divide Americans is just another reminder that you cant spell Rush Limbaugh without the letters L-I-A-R.
The watchdog group Media Matters has provided an excellent fact check of the Limbaugh smear, proving once again that when it comes to slandering veterans, the right wing is wrong. The fact check can be found at: (http://mediamatters.org/items/200711090008?f=h_latest)
Time to get out the stiletto and Harry Reid the liar, John Kerry.

I had to click on the link because I couldn’t believe that this would come from a Senator’s office. It did, and I still can’t believe it.
This just goes to show that Kerry would have made an awful President. One needs a bit of judgment to be in such an office.
A fine example of being above "peddlers of hate" and addressing the issues.
The Senator stooping to this level of vulgarity can only mean two things, 1) revenge from the irrelevant, and 2) an attempt to distract an effective critic from the real target. And FWIW, next to nothing the swiftboat veterans said about Kerry has been refuted. Most of there replies were just a milder forms of this, attacking the critics.
“It is long past time that we end the politics of . . . smear that we have seen used against decorated veterans”
ANY MENTION OF MURTHA?
Kerry is Olds-boating Limbaugh. Kennedy is driving.
Ya gotta give the devil his due...
John F’n Kerry, parlayed a little more than 3 months in country, a movie camera, three scratches, and dozens of lies —— into undeserved honors and a lifetime career sucking at the public tit...which will continue till his death on a fat government pension...
This is the SAME sonuvabitch who slandered the honorable men whose names are on that Wall on the Mall.
John F’n Kerry is the ONLY man I’ve ever known of, whose success in coming home was a blow to the Republic.....
The country would have been far better off if those dastardly Cambodians John F’n Kerry NEVER encountered on that Christmas SEARED into his memory, had of killed his sorry ass...
I have a friend who actually served with Kerry with the Mobile Riverine Forces. He is a broken glass democrat (someone who would crawl on his knees through broken glass to vote for the democrats). He is from a family that for 5 generations has voted straight democrat.
This liberal vet HATES Kerry with a passion. He turns beet red and rants about what a lying fake Kerry is/was.
I have such a hard time understanding how these low life unAmerican idiots get away with these things!
This is great. It will put the swift boat incident back on the front burner again. I can hardly wait to hear what Rush has to say. The Kerry people just never learn.
Media Matters? Pullllease.
Ping.
Great post. Thank you very much.
Touche, excellent!!
While the Swift Boat Veterans story got a lot of coverage, Elliott’s supposed flip-flop was always mentioned, and was used by the “pro-Kerry” side of the debate to show that Elliott (and the whole Swift Boat Vets group, by implication) was less than credible and perhaps a bit flaky.
Well, now it turns out that Elliott is claiming that he was misquoted by the Boston Globe. He has signed a new affidavit, re-affirming the old and describing the Boston Globe story by Kanish as “extremely inaccurate”:
Captain George Elliott describes an article appearing in todays edition of the Boston Globe by Mike Kranish as extremely inaccurate and highly misstating his actual views. He reaffirms his statement in the current advertisement paid for by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Captain Elliott reaffirms his affidavit in support of that advertisement, and he reaffirms his request that the ad be played.
******
The day after the ad was released, Mike Kranish of the Boston Globe wrote an article in which he stated that one of the swift boat veterans responsible for the ad had retracted his statements about John Kerry and was sorry that he had become involved. That veteran, George Elliot, quickly responded to the article by stating that Mike Kranish had written a very misleading article and that he stood by his statements on Kerry. Soon after Mr. Elliot released his statement, Drudge posted that Mr. Kranish had actually been hired to write the forward for the Kerry/Edwards campaign book, which would be a huge conflict of interest as Mr. Kranish was also covering the campaign in an official capacity of the Globe. Friday evening, Hugh Hewitt posted on his blog a statement by Boston Globe editor Martin Baron that flatly denied that Kranish had contracted to write for an official Kerry/Edwards campaign book. Hugh wondered as to the effect of the Drudge piece on Kranish’s reputation. However, in an interesting twist, Drudge and several other blogs including Instapundit, have linked to a screen capture from Public Affairs that clearly lists Mike Kranish of the Boston Globe as the author of a “penetrating” introduction to the book. Drudge also links to the same page where it appears that the references to Mike Kranish have been removed from the description of the book.
Yes, J F’n’s denials are nonsense. BUT, he should run on an alternative ticket, something like the Winter Soldier ticket.
