A Day in the Life of President Bush (with photos): 11-10-07
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
QUOTE(s) OF THE DAY
"First on al Qaeda, we do share a common goal, and that is to eradicate al Qaeda. That goal obviously became paramount to the American people when al Qaeda killed 3,000 innocent souls on our soil. And since then, the United States of America, along with strong allies and friends, has been in pursuit of al Qaeda.
I vowed to the American people we'd keep the pressure on them. I fully understand we need cooperation to do so, and one country that we need cooperation from is Pakistan. That cooperation has been made easier by the fact that al Qaeda has tried to kill leaders in Pakistan several times. And so we share a common goal. " PHOTO OF THE DAY
PLEASE NOTE: The Mods just love dispensing with trolls, whiners, and anti-Bushites .. in fact, they're working out in the gym, referring to their Thesauri and dictionaries right now. For those who can't comprehend "A Day In The Life of President Bush," we who gather here on this thread admire, respect and support our President. This is OUR "Sanity Island." So, please remember that .. and maybe think 3 times before you jump in with any junk, offensive comments OR inappropriate graphics. Thank you.
Hi!
Bonjour Star - thanks for the Saturday edition of the news.
In
Former President Bush celebrated the grand reopening of his presidential museum today with a surprise skydive.
It was the former president's sixth skydive and his first since 2004, when he jumped to celebrate his 80th birthday.
When Bush jumped today, he was strapped to an expert from the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team, as he did three years ago.
Bush is 83 years old. He had hip replacement surgery in January. He said at the time that he planned to skydive in 2009 for his 85th birthday.
Bush's first parachute jump came in 1944 when he was shot down over the Pacific island of Chi Chi Jima.
The 69,000-square-foot museum has been mostly closed since April for the $8.3 million facelift.
That man! he is something else! LOL!
It’s so cool the way the President has Heads of State come to his ranch!
I’m so glad that the president and Laura are getting to spend
some time at their ranch and have a little down time from the
craziness in DC. I’ll bet they are really looking forward to
retirement! LOL!
BTW...thanks for Sanity Island tonight. It’s needed more
and more each day! The crazies are taking over the asylum!...
as it were.
It's even more cool that the Wash press corp have to hang out in Crawford for a month in August, during the hot/humid Texas summer, without a Ritz Carlton or Starbucks in town for them to cool their heels at. No wonder they liked the Clintons better. Summers in Nantucket with the beautiful people...
Thanks for the ping and thanks for hosting this evenings Dose
He's a wild man, that's for sure!
President Bush's Radio Address ~ 11-10-07
Excerpt:
"Some of the Commission's recommendations require legislative action, such as updating the disability system to fully meet the needs of our wounded warriors. So my Administration has sent Congress a bill that would enact all the legislative steps recommended by the Commission. This is a good bill, our wounded warriors and their families are counting on it, and I urge Democrats and Republicans to come together to pass it as quickly as possible.
Congress can also meet its responsibility to our veterans by passing a clean Veterans Affairs appropriations bill. Unfortunately, Congressional leaders let the fiscal year end without passing this bill they know our veterans need.
So I urged Congress to pass this bill by Veterans Day -- and they still have failed to send me this vital legislation. The time to act is running out. There are now just four days left on the legislative calendar before Congress leaves town for their Thanksgiving break. The best way members of Congress can give thanks to our veterans is to send me a clean bill that I can sign into law.
On this Veterans Day, I urge every American to take time to thank one of our Nation's 24 million veterans. They come from different generations and different backgrounds. But they are united by a commitment to honor, duty, and love of country that has kept America free. They continue to strengthen and inspire our Nation. And we will never forget what we owe them."
