But you won’t be taking away from a true Republican candidate. You will be taking away from a Rino candidate the establishment wants.

His age is relative though. How many 60 year old men can change a tire ;) This 61 year old can still change a tire.
FWIW, I still have sex, too. (Just Remarried)

I completely agree with you. Hunter is the best candidate, but Thompson is a decent fall-back position.
The Thompson and Hunter people should be working together, not against each other.
I've got my Hunter bumperstickers on our cars and talk about him at every reasonable opportunity. I'm also helping to get him on the ballot here in NJ. I encourage others in other states to do likewise.
If we don't support the best candidates, you can be darned sure that we'll be stuck with the worst. The GOP establishment will see to that.

I will neither vote for Rudy or Mitt in the primaries nor in the general election. I am a pragmatist, not a liberal.
I'm right there with you, hombre.

Unfortunately the strategy by Duncan supporters seems to be to dump on Thompson, meanwhile Huckebee is scooping up a lot of social conservative support.
Huckabee's done something very smart--to pitch to homeschoolers. I wish Hunter would come out strongly to that constituency. We're networked, enthusiastic, and most of us share his values very closely.

"Note to republicans: You want my vote in the general election (and campaign cash) give me a conservative or forget it. I'm a conservative long before I'm a republican." With all due respect, and reference to my tagline, I still believe that the republican party apparatus will not allow a Hunter candidacy. None of the conservative hopefuls have, or will receive in future, support from a party that is so much more comfortable with Rudy and would likely run and hide if faced with another RR.

Also, RG is promising to appoint Scalia's. Everyone scoffs at that promise, but what if it's true? I believe it is true, as a matter of fact. As for Hillary, I GUARANTEE who she will appoint...
You're right about that, I think. But does it bother anybody other than me that the presidential election more and more boils down to voting for who will get to name who our real overlords are, the unelected, unaccountable, and unchecked Supreme Court? How do we roll back the power grab the court took starting in the 1960s? They rule, we obey and if you dont like it, well, eventually one will die and maybe the president will replace him with someone good (or not). I hate this situation!

Good point. One of the main reasons we care about who is president is because we’re forced to care so much about who the judges are.

We should be able to see a noticable change before we have to vote in the Primaries/Caucuses. I’m willing to be reasonable about when we shift, but I don’t want to allow Fred to languish to the point it damages him.
That whould probably benefit Giuliani as much as anyone else.
At some point we need to back the guy who can get us there.

Maybe if they repeat it enough - "parental rights undermined" - they might eventually get it to the point that they'll feel a need to do 180 degree turn on their family policy agenda and do something to fix it. "parental rights undermined" is this millenium's understatement. Usually "parental" rights means mother's rights. Father's rights extends to paying the freight and no further.
