The NYTimes' Jacques Steinberg follows up on his story about MSNBC being in "serious discussions" with Rosie O'Donnell about a primetime show on the network.
Rosie would fit the roster, Steinberg writes, because "[T]he cable channel believes there is ratings gold in shows that criticize the [Bush] administration with the same vigor with which Fox News's hosts often champion it." Countdown with Keith Olbermann being the standout.
"Officials at MSNBC emphasize that they never set out to create a liberal version of Fox News," Steinberg writes, quoting NBC SVP Phil Griffin the former Hardball EP who now runs the network. "It happened naturally," said Griffin, "There isn't a dogma we're putting through. There is a 'Go for it.'"
Two notable exceptions to the left is right strategy: MSNBC hosts Tucker Carlson, whose show, Steinberg writes "is in real danger of being canceled" and Joe Scarborough now hosting three hours in the morning.
"I'm just as conservative as I was in 1994, when everyone was calling me a right-wing nut," Scarborough says. "I think the difference is the Republican Party leaders, a lot of them, have run a bloated government, have been corrupt, and have gone a very, very long way from what we were trying to do in 1994. Also, the Republican Party has just been incompetent."
The woman is as mentally unstable as Cynthia McKinney and Roseanne Barr.
3 peas in a pod!
Fat ugly bulldyke is worse that Cyn and Roseanne combined.
I say quite fitting rosy-o-donut will be on pmsnbc.
One more reason I will never watch the nbc’s again.
....and this will change the quality of PMSNBC how?

Hah! Just last week Scarborough called Reagan Democrats, i.e Southerners, racists who would never vote for BHO because he's black. Yeah that's a conservative stand! And then there was his drooling over Hillary Clinton last month. He has been thoroughly corrupted. Tucker Carlson a conservative? Bah!
Trouble is, no one in the MSM knows a true conservative. Now if they gave Ann Coulter or Michele Malkin or Mike Adams or Mark Steyn a show, then they'd have a conservative!
Chris Mathews will Bush bash and preach left wing politics at night on his show and then pretend to be an objective news analyst one the NBC nightly news. They will use Olberman to anchor a news program or debate coverage.
The vile thing about MSNBC and NBC is their posing as news organizations when in fact all their on air people are liberals who make no distinction between reporting the news and expressing their opinion.
Probably a smart business move on MSNBC’s part. They get the loony left viewers anyway, This will get them even more. Does not affect me because I do not watch the channel.
Rosie doing the news???....And how many times will they have to bleep her F bombs?
She’s the last peanut swirling in the bowl.
Or will it be the News from a Bull Dike Lesbian prospective?
You beat me by 8 seconds!! LOL!
lol...ummm, has Steinberg glanced at Olbermann's ratings lately? ...or anytime, for that matter? About as far away from "ratings gold" as is possible.
You’re right, from a business standpoint this is a good chance for MSNBC. She has huge name recognition. She increased the ratings for the View while she was on it. She has won multiple Emmys for her daytime talk show. If this is the direction they wish to go in, this would be a good hire for them.
they can’t and won’t compete with Fox. So how do you compete with all of the other liberal nets. You just go allout and try to flank them on the left. It makes good sense actually for us. This way they are not even MSM and they draw the left nut cakes away from the MSM giving the MSM less of a pool of viewers to draw on.
Raging Rosie would help out the GOP in ways she couldn’t imagine. She will scare off many voters with her vitrolic behavior.
I’m waiting for her to commit suicide on air.
