“People just need to keep up the heat on Rooty. They need to force him to answer questions about his liberal past. They cannot let him get away with calling them liars, but failing to make him show evidence that their claim is not true.”

His days are numbered......

To all

I am not a big defender of Mitt but to be fair does the Governor of Mass have the authority to intervene.
I remember reading somewhere (or worse someone telling me!) that in the Mass state government the legislature had the lion’s share of the power. Anyone know if this is true?

“That is why a corrupt customer that thinks he has found a good deal when he has an eight year relationship with guys that aren’t even in the system would recommend them to his son.”

Says it all!

A pudgy, Hispanic legal citizen in his pick up truck that is the boss of your illegals for eight years is not enough cover to fool most people, especially dedicated illegal fighters like Mitt Romney, it sure doesn’t work for me.

As far as the restaurant example that all you pro illegal people offer as the mirror example of almost a decade of Romney’s home life, think about it I should not have to explain the difference, but I will tell you that if I was to start going to a restaurant and I suspicioned that behind the scene they were an illegal operation, avoiding taxes and doctoring documents and exploiting workers, then I would look into it, I sure would not become a loyal customer and start inviting them take over duties at my home.

At least Romney “gets it” and is doing something about it. Good for him!

“Nobody has a long term relationship with their gardener’s employees.”

Well, I changed gardeners after the ones I had ran a hedge trimmer through my stained glass window! I knew most of the crew by name, but they would not pay for the damage. So there was an opening!

And, when I found someone I liked, I did ask about citizenship and so forth, and settled on a nice kid trying to start his own business, who was a citizen, his family lived a few blocks over. There were lots and lots of companies who wanted the business, it’s a very competitive field round here, and most could not or would not demonstrate legal residence.

If you are going to have people wandering around your property it pays to know who they are. My little property is tiny, lawnwise, but someone does the mow-and-blow, takes the palm fronds off when they are dry, and trims the Australian fern trees or whatever they are called. I'm sure Mitt's property is bigger!

I will admit that the car wash I use probably hires illegals, but you either wash the car yourself or, if you use a commercial wash, get your hot wax from guest workers.

that all you pro illegal people offer

Uh... what? Who are you accusing of being a pro-illegal?

I can understand your skepticism of the issue, but realize that the firm was hired because the owner, a legal, went to his Temple. So there tends to be a trust there that was abused. Further, some of the Guatemalens on his lawn WERE legal though some were not. So if the owner says they are legal, and it turns out he personally checks a few and they are legal, is he then going to have to inspect EVERY person who shows up to work?

Or is it the employer who is not obeying federal laws the one who needs to e punished?

A little intellectual honesty, please?

You are indeed accurate about NYC's policy. All criminals were reported to ICE, unfortunately, many were caught and released.

Romney, like Thompson, is relying on the general misunderstanding about what sanctuary cities are and why they occur.

When illegal aliens from Guatemala are working at your home for years without papers, being paid cash, living outside of the system, you can tell.

When I see contractors I can instantly get a feel for if they are legal or not, Sometimes it only takes me a few minutes before I saunter over to ask for paper work, once I get a license number I check them out.

There is no way that my yard man could keep a crew at my house some of them for up to eight years without me figuring out that they were shadow men.

I am a contractor, any customers can start checking out my compliance with state and federal law at any time when it comes to my permanent employees, the idea that I could run a cash business outside of the IRS for the governor and think that he was just too naive to be able to read us is silly.

I have lived with this stuff all of my life, I am not some bird from the Midwest that isn’t familiar with this world among the illegals.

I would not even have allowed them to send citizen workers under those conditions of tax evasion, workman’s comp, etc.

No, you can't tell, especially when they are mixed in with others.

So apparently you are not voting for Romney because he isn't a Jedi. Wonderful. Have a nice day.

Of course you can, this isn’t rocket science.

This effort to mystify the natural ability to identify a poor, uneducated, government and taxes avoiding third world foreigner just doesn’t fly with those of us that have been doing it since childhood.

When I was 17, and took over a house wrecking job, I saw who was doing the work and within hours had run them off and replaced them with citizens, it cost me half a days production but I accepted the dollar loss.

I guess that I am not pro illegal, like some people are.

No, but you are a moron. Romney isn't legally responsible for this - the employer is. He's probably going to jail or going to get fined heavily. The truth is Romney was told that they were legal by the employer, and and the employer was legal, and some of the workers were also legal. None of the people working on the lawn worked for him personally and there was high turnover among the laborers according to the Boston Globe story.

Gosh, you are just so damn talented. Maybe you can get a job with ICE. Because a third world, uneducated legal looks a lot like a third world, uneducated illegal, especially when you don't talk to them and only see them in passing when you are busy running a large corporation or a state.

You will never convert me to your pro illegal position, nor convince me that it is beyond mortal man’s ability to decide to only hire Americans for long term employment.

“Even as Romney travels the country, vowing to curb the flood of low-skilled illegal immigrants into the United States, some of those workers maintain his own yard, cutting grass, pruning shrubs, and mulching trees.”

“Reporters tracked down four current and former employees of the company at their homes in Chelsea and in Guatemala. All had landscaped Romney’s property while working for Community Lawn Service with a Heart, and their tenure ranged from one worker who had joined the company just a month ago to another who had worked there 10 years. The workers said they found the jobs at the landscaping company through other Guatemalan immigrants after arriving in Chelsea.”

“The workers who had landscaped Romney’s property seemed unaware of the governor’s support for stricter controls on illegal immigration. Several described casual encounters with Romney over the years and said he had never expressed any curiosity about their status.”

“Of the four interviewed, only one said he was in the United States legally, “

“The one legal Guatemalan immigrant interviewed by the Globe, who has done work at the Romney property numerous times, has been a constant presence at the landscaping company. But he said Saenz regularly hired illegal workers to work alongside him.”

Presidential material.......Mitt’s got the right stuff.

His campaign has hit all the right buttons.

Calling Hillary an “intern” and zooming in on Rooty ——these are the things that endear him to conservatives.

Romney is not my guy, Fred is. But the man is smart. He’ll turn his hiring of illegals into a cause celeb like McCain did after he got into the S&L fiasco. McCain went from the Keating 5 to the champion of campaign finance reform. Watch Romney portray himself as a man who made mistakes, learned from them and now is devoted to doing to right thing on immigration.
