Yes, the Navy awarded some medals, that much is true and nobody disputes that the Navy did that; which relied on the code of honor of the Navy officers - that much is not in question.
What Kerry knows he would be forced to admit is, in some cases, who was the officer that wrote the action reports on which some of the medals were based (not which higher officers rubber stamped them)?
The answer is, in some cases, that officer was Kerry himself and the majority of his peers at the time know, and would testify, those reports contain lies and half-truths.
The Swift vets have challenged Kerry to fact by fact discourse with them, any place, any time, for over 30 years. He hasn’t, he won’t and he can’t.
The most he will do is as he has always done. He will trot out the half truths and simply say his half truths prove everyone else is a lier, and in doing so he will skip over the factual challenges from the Swift vets, and hope his “liar” accusation against the Swift vets is as deep as the media will go in looking at the issue (which is what he can expect the media to do).
