Hillary's in trouble
The Toledo Blade ^ | November 3, 2007 | Jack Kelly

SEN. Hillary Rodham Clinton apparently has hit a speed bump on the way to her coronation.

If Mrs. Clinton is to prevail in the general election she must, as in the primaries, divide to rule. She may get help from petulant conservatives. The polls make it clear that Mr. Giuliani is the Republican most likely to beat Mrs. Clinton. But his nomination could spark three splinter candidacies on the right.

The first could be by a pro-life candidate who is offended by Mr. Giuliani's pro-choice views on abortion. This would be a clear case of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. The issue of abortion will be settled in the courts. The next president likely will appoint two, and perhaps as many as four, Supreme Court justices. Mr. Giuliani has said he'll appoint judges like Chief Justice John Roberts and Samuel Alito. Mrs. Clinton will appoint judges who will make sure Roe vs. Wade is the law of the land forever.

The second could be an immigration restrictionist. Mr. Giuliani might be the strongest of the Republicans on border security, but his views about illegals who just came here to work are too kind for some.

The third - and the most likely - is that Ron Paul will run on the Libertarian ticket. This should help Republicans, because most of the votes Mr. Paul likely would get would come from moonbats apoplectic about recent successes in Iraq. They are angry with Mrs. Clinton for suggesting she wouldn't withdraw all troops immediately upon taking the oath of office.

A Paul candidacy excepted, the arithmetic of the 2008 election is clear. In a two-candidate race, the Republican wins, especially if the Republican is named Giuliani. In a multiple candidate race, Mrs. Clinton wins.

*Cough* - Bullsh*t.

Exactly the reverse, and I would also put money on the quess that the writer knows it.

I hope you’re wrong about that. I’ll be battling while they’re in the corner pouting. I hope they know they will be throwing our heroes in the military under the bus (just to name one of the victims of their foolishness).

The only exeption that I could see to your logic would be for Bloomberg to run with any VP on a 3rd party ticket.

No pub that matters in electoral vote count would vote for that man, and many liberal independents who will otherwise hold their collective nose and pull the lever for hillary just might...

Bloombeg/gore or Gore/Bloomie would be a dream.

but thats all that it is...

As a petulant conservative I will never vote for the beast. I will never discard my vote and allow the beast to win.

“The best thing we can do is to defeat Rudy in the primary.”

I agree! The MSM want Rudy as they know Hillary can bet him after they unload all the bad press they have waiting for Rudy if he wins the nomination. Time will tell, but I still believe Fred Thompson is the best man and the one who can beat Hillary. Fred is going to be on Meet The Press with Tim Russert tomorrow at 10:00AM Eastern. I am looking forward to watching....and I never watch Meet The Press!

In a multiple candidate race, Mrs. Clinton wins.

I wish there was a way to convince some well-meaning but intractable folks here that this is unquestionably the case.

In fact, I expect Mrs. Clinton to clandestinely underwrite a third party candidate, if there is none kindly provided by Dobson et al.

Maybe the best thing we can do is to hold our collective noses really hard, and send money to Obama.

Obama doesn't have the nerve to fight. If we were to plug our noses and support a Dem it would be the Silky Pony

He is completely unelectable. The important thing about Rudy is his impact on the lesser races. Conservatives are not going to get mobilized by Rudy, so why should they support the other Republican candidates in their district or state? A Rudy nomination is a railroad spike into the GOP and their donations will decrease to that of the Constitution and Libertarian Party levels.

Are you saying that Rudy won't have any coat tails? If so that's a bunch of bull [sarcasm off now]....

That's exactly what I'm saying. Rudy would have zero coattails because conservatives wouldn't be mobilized to support him.

Look, Norm Coleman just endorsed Rudy. If I was a conservative in Minnesota, how would you think his endorsement of Rudy makes me feel about Norm? He's telling me that conservatism doesn't matter, just vote for me and my tacit approval of abortion with my endorsement of Rudy.

Ted Olson, Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney can’t all be wrong. If Rudy is the nominee they will support him.

I almost want Rudy to win the nomination just so I can see some of the (extremist one-note Jonny’s)heads explode around here.

What part of Rudy is the only one who can defeat Hilary do you not understand?

At the risk of being freeped out, I'll admit that I will vote for the official Republican Candidate, whomsoever that might be.

It won't make me happy if it's Rudy. That's not because of the ideological distate I harbor for the gent, although it is considerable. It's because Rudy gives Hillary's hit machine too many easy targets. I actually think Hillary is hoping it's Rudy. (A)She'll get a Third Party to siphon off Republican strength, and (B)Rudy's past, his record, and the backflips and pirouettes necessary to get away from it make him super-vulnerable. God knows what's in her FBI files on this guy!

Nobody, including Rudy has shown the cojones to rip this Hillary's guts out on her record as Bill's Rape Enabler, Vince Foster, the FBI File Theft, etc. All they have managed to do so far is get her more sympathy votes from the women. You have to get personal with Hillary. She has no political record.

What a disgusting picture that is: women voting for another woman who did everything but hold her husband's victims down, and after he was through, harassed them with violent private detectives.

There are so many reasons I would not ever vote for the Clintons; but the rape is the one that I will remember as long as I live.

How dare our country elect such scum. Electing these types of people gives them the right to rape you as far as I am concerned. Just think about it. They will violate your body; not just your soul.

Norm is a good person just like Rudy, but they’re both ex New York Democrats that haven’t given up all of their liberal ways.

One of the first things I learned about Hillary was her activity during the Nixon takedown. Her proposal at the time was actually deemed unconstitutional by her own party.

Her theme, throughout her life has been "takedown"....by any means. HIllary and her party have harrassed the President and set up Cheney and Rove with the PLame farce. They'll lie through their teeth...for their dirty politics.

In regard to Monica...I'll bet she was the first to know in the circle.

Rudy should not be allowed to re-define eliminate what's left of the conservative movement.

There. That's a tad more accurate.
