Where did they poll? Who did they poll? There are all sorts of variables that can skew a poll even if it is of ostensibly Republicans. There is a great deal that makes a poll wrong and only a little narrow path for it to be correct. All I am saying is don’t make your choice on what the polls say is going to happen. Make it because that is the right person for the job!

Sorry, I’m going to stand by my true conservative principles and NOT vote for a man who’s more interested in starting a trade war with China than fighting the real war.

Also, I despise unions, and Hunter sounds dangerously like a unionist. Does he even care about changing the tax code? He seems like the type to keep the status quo of big central government so he can wield his grand power against China and any American companies who dare deal with wealthy UAE countries.

No thanks.

That’s nice.

Do remember who in Congress has been watching Bush’s back in the WOT like no one else?

Do you remember who kept McCain and his band of moderates from closing Gitmo?

DO you remember when Murtha was first starting his cut and run advocacy? Do you remember who forced his plan to a house vote to get trounced 400+ to 3?

Do you remember the only man to publicly call for Harry Reid to resign after his famous “we lost” in Iraq statement?

Do you remember who stood alone and saved the military spooks (DIA) from coming under the bureacratic command/control of the new Intelligence Czar?

Do you remember who most vociferously defended the treatment of the GITMO scum when the MSM, dems and most GOPers were fretting over the ‘flushed Koran’ story and other such fake atrocities?

Do you remember who INSISTED the loudest to QUIT focusing on the aberation of Abu Ghraib?

Do you remember who slapped Murtha for his nonsensical accusations against the Haditha Marines?

DO you remember mercilessly ridiculed Pelosi’s “15 day waiting period” proposal for our troops prior to deployment in theatre? So much so that it dies on the vine?

DO you know who has given the most cover to Bush for going after Iran by stating in 2 debates and multiple articles that we ALREADY have full license to go after the mullahs for their malfeasance in Iraq?

Do you remember which congressman has publicized the fact that chinese arms are making it into the fighting theatres of Afgh. & Iraq?

Do you remember which candidate has been using the ‘V’ word?

Do you remember which candidate has been promoting the “quick strike force” that can go anywhere at anytime to snuff out jihadis? ANd do you know there is only one candidate that even knows what that means.

Do you remember which congressman has been advocating massive increases in Human intel for the last 20 years?

DO you know which candidate has never wavered in his efforts to increase the size and lethality of our military since 1981.

Do you know which candidate said we would use nukes to remove Iran’s nukes if need be?

DO you know which candidate is the only one to state that Israel should not give up one inch of territory to the palestinians?

Do you know which candidate is more well read on the history of warfare than any other in this race?

Do you know which candidate has been punching the libs in the mouth over Iraq, Afghanistan, defense cuts, and general stupidity while others were wavering because they thought the war was unpopular? Even at the lowest point after the 2006 midterms.

DO you know which guy made damn sure that McCAin’s bullshit torture ban left the President with an opening to circumvent this nonsense?

SO, yes, Hunter has spent a career trying to stifle the chicoms. Everything from giving them “normal” trade relations, to cutting off ALL satellite technology, to arming Taiwan to the teeth.

But he has also been the biggest advocate for smashing the jihadis, with no politcal correctness and no apologies and absolutel NO WORRIES about ‘world opinion’.

If he would dump the China stuff and focus his campaign based on all the things you mentioned + illegal immigration, he might actually start raising money. As it is, he’s playing to a Ron Paul style niche of the Republican party.

If he wants to bring manufacturing back to the US, a goal I have absolutely no problem with, he can start by advocating a huge corporate tax reduction, eliminating minimum wage laws so people getting into the market have a chance of starting somewhere, and making it clear that unionization cripples industries.

Our socialist laws and tax code are the problem, not China.

Glad you mentioned that. Hunter’s platform, which he has publicized in almost every campaign whistle stop, includes the elimination of all manufacturers’ taxes for manufacturing on US soil. In fact, he has a bill in congress for just that.

We have one problem. Bush tried something similar for our exporters, tax rebates. And guess what, the WTO said those tax cuts were an illegal subsidy, and we ‘had’ to withdraw them or face a billion dollar a day fine. Why does any entity or international organization have any say whatsoever on US tax policy? Because WE gave them that authority when we created it. And guess who tried to prevent our entry into this globalist, sovereignty usurping boondoggle?

I think you know.

In addition, China pegs their currency to the dollar, instead of letting it float on the world market, allowing them to lock in a price advantage no matter what we do. ANd guess who has legislation to penalize china for said currency devaluation?

Add on top of that, that just about every chinese ‘company’ is either controlled by or has intimate ties to the PLA. China is also responisble for aggressive espionage in the USA - everything from corporate technology and strategies to defense secrets. China also is responsible for the most serious cyber attacks on US institutions, most recently the Pentagon’s system. And it just so happens that the company in question here - 3Com - has contracts for cyber security with the Defense Dept. And China cheats every chance it gets. From pirating roughly 95% of our software and intellectual property, to using high technology equipment we sold to them or they acquired via underhanded methods for their military purposes, to selling weapons to our sworn enemies, to spreading nuclear technology to rougue nations, to ignoring our patents laws, to requiring ‘offsets’ and bribes for trading, to loading pet food with toxic fillers just to get rid of it.

We are being fleeced by communists, and there are only a handful of people that understand this and understand that the hundreds of billions trade surplus in their favor is allowng them to arm in their hopes to rival the US military might.

Here is a good recap.

ANd, BTW, Hunter is an original cosponsor of scrapping the IRS and instituting the FAIR Tax.

There’s nothing wrong with Duncan Hunter. He’s a good second-tier candidate and I personally believe he would make great Vice Presidential material.

I just don’t see him getting the nod for the big nomination, though. He just doesn’t have the polling numbers, not even in a range that has much hope of picking up anytime soon.

He’s better than Ron Paul though, I’ll give him that.

Another endorsement for Hunter:

Handicapping the field: Republican Melvin R. Laird, the former Wisconsin congressman and President Nixon’s first defense secretary, said he has yet to endorse a presidential hopeful but admires House Republican Duncan Hunter of California, the former chairman of the Committee on Armed Services.

“.......... he’s the best qualified in terms of foreign policy and military security,” Laird observed.

John Kerry was only 3% in the polls before the New Hampshire primary. He ended up with the nomination. You never know what can happen.

Not a reasonable comparison. Kerry had money, lots of money.

It ain't over yet....

Amen!

I love to watch thoroughbred horse races - it's a thrill to watch a favorite holding back, then begin the pace, passing the others one by one, to the finish line.

Hunter just may be that thoroughbred.

Better voting for a second tier real guy than a first tier sellout.

OUCH! That'll leave a mark! LOL!
