What About Sanctuary For Us, From Them? (Mark Steyn Forgotten Graveyard Favorite Reprint Alert)

One could, I suppose, regard this as one of those unforeseen incremental consequences that happens in the darkest shadows of society. But that doesn't extend to Newark's official status as an illegal-immigrant "sanctuary city." Like Los Angeles, New York and untold others, Newark has formally erased the distinction between U.S. citizens and the armies of the undocumented. This is the active collusion by multiple cities and states in the subversion of U.S. sovereignty. In Newark, N.J., it means an illegal-immigrant child rapist is free to murder on a Saturday night. In Somerville, Mass., it means two deaf girls are raped by MS-13 members. And in Falls Church, Va., it means Saudi Wahhabists figuring out that, if the "sanctuary nation" (in Michelle Malkin's phrases) offers such rich pickings to imported killers and imported gangs, why not to jihadists?

"Tell Me Why They Had To Die"? Hard to answer. But tell me why, no matter how many Jose Carranzas it spawns, the nationwide undocumented-immigration protection program erected by this country's political class remains untouchable and ever-expanding.

Even some democrats in Congress, however few are starting to get it. They’re going to have to close the loopholes like licenses-for-votes that leftist radicals such as Spitzer are exploiting because the public is no longer willing to tolerate the lawlessness.

Great repost. Quite simply, elected politicians, mostly Dems but certainly some RINOs, see the illegal population as a electoral gold mine: all those votes from poor, mostly uneducated laborers. ‘Franchising’ them will invalidate my vote and yours and people like Spitzer and Clinton and many many other will remain in office forever. Meanwhile the country will go straight to hell in a hand basket!

This Web Site is trying to document the thousands of Americans that are victims of illegal aliens each year.

http://www.voiac.org/

VOIAC is a registry and data base for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime.

Through exclusive FSM investigation, we have discovered that crimes committed by foreign nationals, including illegal aliens, on American soil are not tracked, recorded, or reported by the FBI or the Justice Department as being committed by foreign nationals. This includes all crimes, including those committed by illegal alien terrorists to illegal alien criminals who are currently molesting, raping, killing, and murdering Americans in shocking numbers.

It’s all about Votes. Here in NY, giving II’s the right to drive is the first step to make sure they VOTE - will ensure another 30+ years of democratic control over NY.

I agree with you. When a nation tolerates lawless Senators, Congressmen, Mayors and Governors, it is playing with its own disintegration.

It really looks like that's what some of them want...

Republican, Democrat and bi coastal elites don’t live amongst them. If illegals trash low income working stiffs neighborhoods...so what? As Leona Helmsly said, ‘little people’. To her credit, Leona was honest unlike others.

Hundreds of Thousands Flee Mexico Floods

By ANTONIO VILLEGAS – 16 hours ago

VILLAHERMOSA, Mexico (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of Mexicans fled a flooded region of the Gulf coast Friday, jumping from rooftops into rescue helicopters, scrambling into boats or swimming out through murky brown water. President Felipe Calderon called the flooding in Tabasco state one of Mexico’s worst recent natural disasters, and pledged to rebuild.

Food and clean drinking water were extremely scarce in Tabasco state, and federal Deputy Health Secretary Mauricio Hernandez warned that there could be outbreaks of cholera and other waterborne diseases.

“With so many people packed together there is a chance that infectious diseases could spread,” he said.

Officials tested for 600 suspected cases of cholera, but none was positive, he said. The waterborne sickness, which can be fatal, has not been reported in Mexico for at least six years.

The government also sent 20,000 Hepatitis A vaccinations and were giving booster shots to children to prevent outbreaks, Hernandez said.

Medical care was difficult, however, because at least 50 of the state’s hospitals and medical centers were flooded.

Hotels, parking garages and other dry structures were converted into temporary shelters for those forced from their homes.

Many people were headed to nearby cities unaffected by the floods. Highways that weren’t covered with water were packed with residents fleeing in cars and on foot. The exodus appeared to be orderly with no reports of violence.

“We are leaving because we cannot live like this,” he said. “We don’t have any water, and the shelters are full. Where are we going to go?”

State officials sent 50 buses to a museum in the capital where hundreds of people gathered.

“We wanted to stay in the city but it is no longer possible,” said Jorge Rodriguez, 43. “We have lost everything.”

I think that things would also change if the federal government was held accountable for the expenses incurred by the major immigration states like Florida, California, New York, Texas, and Arizona—the courts keep ruling that immigrant children are entitled to an education and that illegals are entitled to medical care at hospitals—fine—let’s be humane—but then the federal government needs to foot the bill—all these court decisions create an unfunded mandate situation for the states under assault—so the citizens of the states have to flounder on their own to foot the bill—if an illegal alien who gets turned loose by the INS hits me in my car, destroys my car, and injures me and my family—who foots the bill? I personally want to deport illegals but the courts and the feds have to stop dragging their heels.

The feds don't want to do it so looks like it's up to the states. The new law in Oklahoma seems to be working already, we need to do that nationwide. Without illegals here they can't run up hospital bills, get into car accidents, crowd our schools and prisons or demand rights they're not entitled to. It's too bad that it's coming down to the harsh laws but corporations thirst for cheap labor and sleazy politicians like Spitzer wanting easy votes has got us into a big mess.

I just heard that Rep. Peter King (R-NY) is planning to introduce a bill that would ban states from issuing driver’s licenses to illegals—his plan is to force Hillary and other Dems to go on the record—I like the idea of a unilateral approach and serious enforcement. In New York state we have a majority of state senators belonging to the Republican party so they want to cancel out the motor voter which helps non-citizens vote in American elections (Thus favoring the Dems).

That's definitely part of it imo, Spitzer sees this as a way to take out the GOP NY Senate using illegal votes but he's not going to get away with it. And if the Pelosi Congress refuses to bring up King's bill then the NY democrats can talk all they want about opposing Spitzer no one will believe a word they say. The only thing most of them oppose is the timing of it and not the plan itself.
