A mandatory University of Delaware program requires residence hall students to acknowledge that "all whites are racist" and offers them "treatment" for any incorrect attitudes regarding class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality they might hold upon entering the school, according to a civil rights group.
"Somehow, the University of Delaware seems terrifyingly unaware that a state-sponsored institution of higher education in the United States does not have the legal right to engage in a program of systematic thought reform. The First Amendment protects the right to freedom of conscience the right to keep our innermost thoughts free from governmental intrusion. It also protects the right to be free from compelled speech," said a letter from Samantha Harris, director of legal and public advocacy for The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education to university President Patrick Harker.
The organization cited excerpts from the university's Office of Residence Life Diversity Education Training documents, including the statement:
"A RACIST: A racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. 'The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality. By this definition, people of color cannot be racists, because as peoples within the U.S. system, they do not have the power to back up their prejudices, hostilities, or acts of discrimination
.'"

Shades of Mao! Prelude to America’s version of the Cultural Revolution?
Based on that definition, racism is an inherent trait and therefore aren’t all inherent traits like homosexuality good and pure and need to be accepted by others?
Don’t we need to embrace the racist because they were born this way and would not choose to be this way?
You could only say whites are racist in the sense of what’s called “institutional racism” - words built into our language and habits of thought without thinking passed down for generations.
In their hearts , I see most white Americans today accepting or ready to receice full integration. I see blacks living alongside whites in upscale neighborhoods as well as in middle and lower middle class areas.
The black and the white kids are getting to know eachother in schools, but not all schools.
Finally, I see some black racists in politics up to their ears and not doing well, like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and the Black Caucus. They keep stirring up trouble wherever there isn’t any.
We had to implement the program throughout our division. The 'ony whites can be racist - all whites are racist' mantra was a cornerstone of the program. All it accomplished was the driving of a previously non-existant wedge between the black and white employees...the blacks feeling (and acting)empowered for no reason and the whites (including me) looking for the door.
No white employee changed (no reason to) except to move further away from the 'ideal' that the training was seeking to create.
Another fine example of cultural marxism’s critical theory. Shades of Leon Trotsky, Herbert Marcuse, et. al. Do you also chant, ‘Hey hey, ho ho, western civ has got to go’?
I know what you mean, my boyfriend is black and he is not gonna be happy to know he’s hooked up with a racist!! Geez, who knew???
or the FR post police.
Beware......
This is outrageous. Someone needs to be challanged or sued here.
You could only say whites are racist in the sense of whats called institutional racism - words built into our language and habits of thought without thinking passed down for generations.
But if that is true, then it would apply to all races, all cultures and all nations, since everyone has words and habits of thought passed down through the centuries. So why is the “institutional racism” of only one race and culture having the spotlight placed upon it?
“Somehow, the University of Delaware seems terrifyingly unaware that a state-sponsored institution of higher education in the United States does not have the legal right to engage in a program of systematic thought reform.”
I don’t know where they get this. They’be been doing it for decades, maybe centuries. Can’t find it in the Constitution, either.
All Blacks are racist.
Well, not quite all but, most!
A black person told me this, so, I’ll take, “his word” for it?
Yeah, and? Someone besides me is just now waking up to this very common teaching in colleges and grad schools?
My favorite part is where I must blindly accept the latest pronouncements of the offended / oppressed groups, since I’m a white male and have no way of understanding them, and have no right to suggest that what they’re saying might not be exactly correct.
All of this is dogma at most colleges and universities....
I need a government subsidized program (throw money at me) to help me overcome my inherent racism.
Every time I watch the local evening news in (insert any major city here) I become more racist. Racism can be changed but the change must start with the actions of those who cause it, and it will take a generation. So start behaving.
All college campi are evil!
Stalin called them “reeducation camps”. The modern Left calls them Universities.
