I was in the Philippines in 1944 and was invited to dinner by a past politician, we had dog for dinner. Wasn’t bad, but of course we didn’t know it was dog at that time.

We had VietNamese living in the same apartment building we were in in the late 70’s. They raised their own rats so they would be bigger when they cooked them.

In the 80’s in vacationed in Tahiti. We took a tour through the villages and I remarked that I didn’t see any dogs. The Tahitians started laughing, then explained to me it was a ‘delicacy’. I ate more carefully after that....

My husband is a rancher and they told him at the sale barn (a few years ago) that some Orientals had bought a heifer at the auction for their restaurant. Then they killed it in the parking lot and proceeded to butcher it in the trunk of their car. They didn’t know that was wrong either apparently.
