100,000 years from now? LOL, it hardly seems 'news' - it's how liberal dems like Hil already consider themselves as aspiring to be this ruling elite, lording it over the dim-witted 'conservative' (always said with a sneer) peons, and the lower level leftie sheeple. But having a 'scientist' say it will help the idea along. Hence the need for all the contraceptive 'help' for the underlings. Didn't the Nazis also think like this? And the Soviets? Etc...

I for one, do not think that this is very likely. One thing that we know from human history, is that humans from different social groups always interact sexually when they are in proximity to one another. This cuts across barriers of race, culture, class or caste. Even a relatively few pairings per generation will prevent a split in the human species. The only thing that might cause such a split would be complete geographical isolation.

Once we learn how do do a computer to human brain interface and store our intelligence on-line, look for a shared consciousness, not unlike the Borg. I also see a human machine fusion. Arthur C. Clarke wrote about this concept in “2001: A Space Oddessy”—IMHO, a very prophetic book.

Whatever’s going to happen on this subject is going to happen a lot faster than the author predicts. In one hundred years or less, people will start actively tinkering with the human genome for the benefit of their offspring. Maybe it will start with the rich, maybe it will start with a kind of bio-hacker. Who knows. But it will start, and it will spread, wiki-fashion, through the population. I don’t think there’s going to be 2 distinct groups. More like 2 thousand. Or maybe 2 million.

A couple of centuries from now the earth is going to be littered with an ungodly mess of various kinds of Children of Men.
