Poll: Romney grows lead in NH
A new poll of New Hampshire Republicans shows Mitt Romney is gaining ground on his Republican rivals.
A Rasmussen Poll released today shows Romney grew his lead from 3 percentage points to 9 percentage points in a month over his nearest opponent, Rudy Giuliani.
Romney now has 28 percent support compared to Giuliani with 19 percent and John McCain with 16 percent. Mike Huckabee creeps into double digits with 10 points and Fred Thompson lags with 6 percent.

by what you said you show a pitifully small knowledge of how to run a campaign.

You seem so bitter and angry. I feel sorry for you. You will not win anyone over to your way of thinking that way. But perhaps you don’t want to. In any case, may God bless you and keep you well.
Don’t be so hard on LLS about Bob Dole. I set him up. America will need a new Viagra Pitchman one day, and that is where Fred Thompson comes in.
With all due respect to a fellow Republican (if not a fellow Conservative) you show little understanding of economics, or ironic humor for that matter...
I take that back...
You get irony....
No, this election is about more than an Elephant winning... it is about the direction that our country is going to take for the next 50 yearsHillary will appoint Marxists to the Supreme Court. YOUNG Marxists. Marxists who will be young enough to rule over us for the next 50 years.
So much for the giving him another unbiased chance I see...
"I can support almost every policy that he has listed."
What the heck does that MEAN? "Listed" where? I wasn't asking about policies he has "listed." I asked about some very specific things:
Could you please address:
1) His implementation of a socialized medicine scheme in Massachussets (this bothers me greatly);
2) His past support for open homosexuals in the military;
3) His anti-NRA statments;
Again, before the past 3 years, can you show me any evidence of his conservatism? I think I can make a very strong case that Thompson is far more conservative, and has far better name recognition, so based on that, I don't see electability on his side either.
I'm just trying to understand. And I'm frankly beginning to be bothered by the fact that Romney supporters are so vague in their justification of him. It's almost as if they're hiding his (and their?) true beliefs.
Say what you want about Guiliani, but at least he's up front about being pro-abortion. I believe Romney has the same beliefs, but he continually tries to hide them.
Thanks,
Hank
>>>How do you feel about Mitt embracing the AWB (assault weapons ban)? If you believe in the Second Amendment then you cannot possibly support this man. <<<
First, I’m opposed to Romney on that issue. But only very mildly. It’s honestly not a big deal to me one way or the other. I frankly don’t see the need to have assault weapons, anyway. Not that this is a reason to ban them, necessarily.
As for the Second Amendment, the Constitution could have very easily clarified its meaning with but a single addition of “all” or “any.” It didn’t. The courts have always upheld the rights of states to limit the sales of guns deemed of no general purpose in day-to-day use. I’m not a big fan of this stance, but that’s the way it has always been.
I don’t see Romney going gung ho over the issue of assault rifles. I think his biggest interests are the three-legged stool he talks about. He’s a venture capitalist—exactly the kind of profession to take the reigns of the White House and our nation’s budget, if you ask me.
>>>but up against killing babies and fags marrying and our Constitutional Rights that are actually written into the document and not legislated from the bench out of pure air... no thanks.<<<
Another reason I prefer Romney to Thompson. Thompson’s response of “So be it,” to a liberal state voting to legalize gay marriage and end traditional marriage was wholly unacceptable to me.
Thank you Beth. The same to you and your family.
I am angry... angry about the horrible government the dims have set up... I am tired of our politicians lying to America as badly as dims do... I am tired of our side governing like dims... and I am angry over the destruction of our way of life by perverted evil... I am angry that our Nation is being invaded by illegals and that dims and rinos want to make them citizens without merit of being a citizen... I am angry that almost all media outlets in our country lie and distort the truth beyond credibility and look us directly in the eye and call US the liars... I am angry that people pee on my boots and try to convince me that it is raining... I am angry that two candidates running for President on the Republican ticket have to lie and swing 180 degrees to appear Conservative... I am angry that Conservatives buy into it... it is the old “Who you gonna believe... me or YOUR lying eyes”. I am not angry at FReepers... just disappointed beyond words.
Let me try to explain just a little more...
American: “You were for abortion rights up until 2005?
Politician #1: “Yes... but I have changed”.
American: “You are on record, in your own words, supporting gun control because it was “keeping us safe”, and have stated recently in a Presidential Debate that you would sign an Assault Weapons Ban bill. Is this true? Do you support the Second Amendment”?
Politician #1: “Yes, but I have changed. I believe in the Second Amendment strongly... but I will sign a AWB if it reaches my desk”.
American: “You once said you were not part of the Reagan Revolution... that you did not support Reagan’s spending cuts and tax cuts”.
Politician#1: “Yes, but I am the most Reagan like Conservative running for office”.
American: “Politician #2, you have always been an abortion rights advocate... do you still support abortion”?
Politician #2: “Yes... abortion is bad... I want it to be rare in America... but I support the Constitution and a woman's right to choose... but I promise I’ll appoint judges that will overturn Roe just like Roberts, Scalia, Thomas and Alito”.
American: “You also support gay marriage and gay activism”.
Politician #2: “Yes, I lived with three gay friends... attended each gay pride parade... marched proudly holding chucky schumer’s hand... even dressed up many times in drag and attended gay balls raising money for gay activism. I support the Constitution you know... but I will appoint Conservative judges like...”
American: “You were a strong gun control advocate in NY City. You were very active in legislating the gun from American Society. You are on record for many years calling for guns to be banished from private ownership.”
Politician#2: “Yes, but gun control for America does not have to look like it did in NY City. I support hunting rights”.
American: “You seem to support “rights” that are not written into the Constitution, while violating certain “rights” that are spelled out in print in that document”.
Politician#1: “The Second Amendment does not mean what you think it does. The Courts have ruled the other subjects you asked about to be Constitutional Rights... Did I tell you I am a big Constitutional supporter and will appoint judges like...”
Rights that do exist... don't... some rights are selective by geographic location... some rights that do not exist in the Constitution do exist... What’s not to get angry about I ask you?

You are just like so many FReepers supporting LIBERAL candidates... you do not comprehend that which you read. You read and hear WHAT YOU WANT to read and hear. READ it this time Henry... and try to understand what I said.
“Bob Dole is still twice the man that rootie or mitt is... HE WAS NOT a PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDER... but he was an HONEST AMERICAN WAR HERO. Bob deserves FAR BETTER treatment for what he has GIVEN TO THIS NATION than being used as a political punching bag.”
He put his life on the line for America... he was severely wounded and almost died defending this Nation. You are attacking this man as if he were a POS on your shoe. He was not a great candidate... he was a horrid campaigner... but that is not what I was defending. Think about it before you attack someone because YOU took it out of context!

I don’t presume to speak for the canidate. Looking at his platform there is nothing here for any American or NRA member to fear. Republicans introduced the SCHIP program, and are now engaged in massively expanding the program. Yes they are fighting Nancy P. but an larger program will pass with Republican support in both Houses.
In order to be POTUS the American people want more than the vanity candidate of the NRA. I carry a concealed weapon and shoot when I can.
If Mitt hangs onto Iowa and New Hampshire he is in a good position, although with the compressed primary schedule we have to wait and see any impact.
If Rudy makes a respectable showing in New Hampshire (I think his campaign has done a good job playing down the necessity of Iowa for him) he will have the momentum needed for the super Tuesday big states that he needs to win.
But McCain is the one that seems to be increasing in all the States, and also seems to be doing the best against Hillary.
As for Fred, I just don't see his winning strategy anywhere. Even in South Carolina he it is becoming a much tighter race, and that is the one he absolutely needs to dominate (I don't think a close win will do it) if he has any hope of getting the nomination. The problem with only an early South Carolina win is Mitt will have the early state momentum, Rudy will have the big state appeal, and McCain may have a steady middle of the road appeal in all States. On the other hand if all Fred can muster in the early primaries is one state that is too little, too late for a win.
I have been following your graphs with great interest, and I really think the "Great Hope of Fred" is gone. As far as I can tell, he has not picked up a single supporter since he officially entered the race.
I will vote for FRED... because we will get the kind of Justices that will return us to a true Federalist Republic. I do not want America version 2.0! I want the America GOD gifted us with through the Founders... with rootie or mitt... “You can’t get there from here”!

I am sorry but this sounds so much like a teenager trying to tell their parents that they absolutely know what is right in the real world. Maybe you should think of those begging FredHeads to listen, as the parents of the party. We honestly can not see Fred getting the enthusiasm from the voters needed to beat Hillary.
Many that have seen him, in person, couldn't believe the lack of passion the man had. If he cannot even muster the enthusiasm of his own party (and admittedly the others aren't doing much better) how can he get the independents needed to win a national election.
Over, and over again we hear that Fred is cool, and calm. Those may be great traits in a man, but in todays 24 hour news world, it is not great in a Presidential election. I totally understand his supporters not wanting to give up on their moral yearning, but maybe it is time to look at the other candidates that truly want the job and compromise on one of those candidates.
What is so different between McCain and Fred when it comes to their ideals? At least McCain wants the job. He is enthusiastic, and charasmatic. He is also the one candidate that seems to be beating Hillary in head to head matchups. Both on the national level, and most importantly the state level. Fred has only been able to do that in his home State.
We are just trying to point out the options out there. We will not negate your wants (pro-life, pro-gun,etc) if you don't negate ours (our want to win). Because in the end, without a win, this Country is going to hell in a hand basket, and your worst nightmare will be realized (at least two more Ruth B Ginsbergs on SCOTUS).
BTW... It is also somewhat difficult to give your wants much heed when you threaten others on this board with being on a "list" if they don't follow you in your FredHead lockstep. Will it kind of be like McCarthy's list? If this wasn't you I apologize.
I agree. I’m voting for Fred also. I’m just saying, when it comes to the general election, no matter who it is, we have big difference between us and Hillary.
