If it was a conservative organization suing, this school would be ignoring them.

I suggest they rename themselves as the “Fighting Sue”.
And he said: “Son, this world is rough
And if a man’s gonna make it, he’s gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn’t be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you’d have to get tough or die
And it’s the name that helped to make you strong.”

The Sioux should be proud that their warrior heritage is still recognized. Instead, they are as PC as everyone else in this country.

If they lose the right, will the Sioux tribe oppose the nickname “The Fighting Cavalry” and their mascot “General Custer”?

well they’d beter rename Sioux Falls, and everything else named Sioux-whatever.

Got the impression that the NCAA, not the Sioux tribal councils initiated this action.
Seems fair that they should control the use of their own name.
I hope the Sioux tribes will allow the continued use of their name, and that the school treats it with respect.
To: wallcrawlr
I was taught that name Sioux was a pejorative term used by other
tribes of the people who called themselves "The People" or Lakota.

How about the “Fighting 7th Cavalry”, or the “Fighting Seventh”...?
Ok..I am Irish...will Notre Dame ask if they can use the “Fighting Irish”?
To: wallcrawlr
The names of the NCAA members who have to reach for their meds every time they see an Indian mascot should be published. The NCAA has turned into a corrupt organization. Once they have forced their will regarding mascots and team names in their demented power grab, what is next? They prohibit teams from playing in communities with names such as Sioux City?
