(Flashback 2003) Many California fires believed to be arson
World Net Daily ^ | 10/30/2003

Posted on 10/24/2007 7:36:42 AM PDT by truthandlife

Law enforcement officials now suspect several of the California wildfires that have killed 18, consumed more than 718,000 acres and destroyed more than 2,400 homes in 10 days were deliberately set – increasing speculation there is a terror connection to the blazes.

One man has been arrested so far -- Dikran Armouchian, 23, of Pasadena.

Damage estimates exceed $2 billion, but that figure is expected to rise substantially as an inventory of firefighting costs and lost property is completed.

The San Bernardino County sheriff’s department is looking for another man in his early to mid-20's who was seen leaving the origin of a fire Saturday, driving a light gray van. The county is offering a $50,000 award for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible for the fire....

While Southern California law enforcement authorities investigate an eyewitness report of arson in at least one of the major wildfires, there is new evidence terrorism was behind other recent wildfires in Europe and Australia.

In the devastating forest fires that swept through the Maures mountains near the French Riviera in late July, investigators found Molotov cocktails, or gasoline bombs, were used to ignite the blazes that killed at least four and destroyed 50 homes.

Luc Jousse, the mayor of Roque-Sur-Argens, called the fires "a new form of terrorism." President Jacques Chirac threatened those responsible with "sanctions of an extraordinary gravity."

No he did not, at least that is what he says’. In the space of a 10 second interview he said it was then said he did not.

America does not need leaders like this.

One does not need to be a terrorist to start such a fire storm. Ordinary reasons may still allpy

The person is crazy

Greed - perhaps a contractor facing the downturn in new building and flips decided to ‘drum up’ some new clients.

Revenge/’getting even’ - name your posion on this one - angry over a slight to a traffic ticket, who knows.

Accident - some poor opressed 3rd worlder started a small dinner cooking fire that got out of hand

Or
A Muzzie decided to strike against the Great Satan (and Hollywood) - so on.

Take your pick. The LE folks do have thier hands full.

Next comes the stories of ‘looters’.

""sanctions of an extraordinary gravity."

What does that mean? It frightens me to think about more terrifying sanctions. The horror!

But forgetting the sarcasm for a moment, if it turns out to merely be an illegal alien that is setting the fires, they won't even get a slap on the wrist. Just a quick trip back to Mexico, taxpayer funded, of course. And they'll be back for more, no doubt, just as soon as they can sneak across our open borders.

The absurdity of it all is just too much to bear sometimes.

Even IF these fires weren’t terrorist related, I’m sure that they’ve been given the idea now. Just watch out for the next batch.

They have many more 'rights' than citizens do. Even illegal aliens convicted of rape and murder of 14 year olds get Bush arguing for them NOT getting the death penalty that a jury gave them. He - and the liberal courts - will let them go for setting fires that cost billions and killed scores of people and millions of animals.

...and his pals in the enviro-whacko movement may be going around setting fires to prove it!

I think that we should have expected terrorists to set fires, or do any number of unexpected things to hurt this country. This should not be a surprise to anyone.

Global warming seems to be a pretty thin case to make.

Since SoCal has been having these fires for decades, kinda blows that out of the water, so as to speak.

This firestorm will cause losses that exceed those of Katrina, the aftermath will be the real news.

I have added my prayers for those that have lost so much - and hope they can put thier lives back together.

This story is of really major importance locally as Anchorage is facing the same set of issues caused by beetle infestation. Should a brush fire get out of had, some 30% (or more) of city homes could be lost. A very bad thing.
