This is why the MSM is proping up Huckabee.
They need a ronpaul for Thompson. Essentially a vote splitter.
The only function of the Frutless Five candidates is to vote split to clear a path for Giuliani’s 27% plurality.

Hey, Fred did pretty well last night, but since when do you’all think the MSM is right?
Because those call-in type polls are not accurate and one person can vote many times. Paul supporters are notorious for spamming polls.

He’s one of 12 people in a closet speaking all at once. He’s just cruising along waiting until the closet gets depopulated.

I can understand the appeal on this board to a Hunter VP nomination ... but, honestly, Hunter makes zero sense on a strategic or political level. Nobody knows who he is - so his name-recognition value is zero - and he doesn’t bring any segment of voters that Thompson couldn’t caputure.
Personally, I’d prefer J.C. Watts as a VP candidate. Watts is younger, has name recognition, and is an up-and-comer in the GOP ranks. He’d be a fine President, and would have a good shot at the WH in 8 years. Plus - his race would mute any effects Hillary could get by choosing Obama as a running mate. I’m not sure his state of origin would be particularly helpful, though.
Other names I’ve heard that might have some merit ... John Cornyn (Senator, TX), Gen. Peter Pace, Mitt Romney (might help in the Northeast), Rudy Giuliani (I’d prefer him for DHS, though), Ron Paul (just kidding). None of these are perfect candidates, but their name recognition and/or popularity in areas of the country that wouldn’t necessarily be Thompson’s strengths seem more helpful than Duncan Hunter might be.

I love Hunter, but I don’t think he will get the exposure or the money. I like Fred, and I was happy he took the chance to point out Rooty’s liberal history.
The Thompson/Hunter ticket would put a good strong VP on the ticket.
We are going to all have to mobilze soon if we want to keep RINO Rooty from taking the primary wins because we all split between too many candidates.
I’m ONLY saying he had a good take on the issue of health insurance coverage. He framed the problem very well and articulately. I believe you missed the remainder of my comment, I won’t be voting for him (I hope), but neither will I go after him for being to the Republican Party what Denis Kocynich (sp?) is to the Democrat party.
I’ll give Romney this much — he certainly is handsome.
