My Night At The Orlando Fox News Presidential Debate
Myself | 10-22-2007 | my favorite headache

Posted on 10/21/2007 11:38:01 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

I am going to post just a small review of my night with 23 Republicans at the Fox News Orlando Republican Presidential Debate.

Luntz was angry early on before camera's went live when he polled the group to make sure everyone there was undecided. A 21 yr old guy raised his hand and said he was supporting Ron Paul. Luntz absolutely lost it on this kid and said "Why in the hell did you not put that on your questionaire that was e-mailed to you? Why does it not shock me that a Ron Paul supporter would pull this kind of crap?"

"If someone else shows up you are being replaced and out of here...this room is for undecided."

I was originally placed in the second row towards the end of the row next to a man named Fred Hawkins Jr. who is running for Osceola County Commissioner. Luntz asked us a bunch of questions with a camera crew and producers in tow behind him and I was the first to answer. I was the first person to use the word "socialism" and it spread like wild fire.

I said the concept of America voting a socialist like Hillary Clinton as President should be motivation enough for Republicans to get their act together. I reminded Luntz of the Hillary quote saying "This is the same woman who is quoted by the San Francisco Chronicle saying "We will have to take things away for the common good." Luntz had this smirk on his face and he knew I handed him gold.

After 3 segments it was time to go live. By the time you saw what you did at home we had already gone through 3 rounds of questions and I was lighting up the joint with what I call the biggest crisis this campaign.

What do any of these men who are running for President plan on doing to combat the extreme hatred of anyone who is a Republican by the mainstream media and how bad the liberal blogs, Soros, and just about everyone who has some sort of journalistic power slimes Republicans on a daily basis. Who is going to have the spine to stand up to it and how do they plan on doing it when the Bush Administration has been knocked out time and time again with no fight.

WHO IS GOING TO PREVENT THE PERCEPTION THAT REPUBLICANS ARE NOT WAR MONGERING NAZI'S WHO ARE OUT FOR OIL COMPANIES AND THE RICH?

Luntz definitely told us through his polling and research that as of today Hillary Clinton will win in a landslide. He was putting all of his money on her. I said you are going to go broke. He said Republicans are too disorganized and the focus group proved that.

I said not it does not. I said if you want to see motivation and organization? Put Hillary Clinton against any Republican and you will see Republicans vote like you have never seen before, the alternative is too grave. Whether we can stand it or not Republicans will do everything in their power to elect anyone else but Clinton.

You saw my exchange later on saying we have long memories and do not want to live through that hell again.

The Ron Paul comment I made was simple and sweet and every single person except the Ron Paul supporter all said "perfect" with regards to that remark.

Luntz walks over and says "you are good...you are going down to the front row...keep talking."

We taped about 70 mins worth of discussion. More clips will be aired at 6:20 AM on Fox and Friends First and then 8:20 AM on Fox and Friends. Then more clips from the debate will be aired on tomorrow's Hannity and Colmes as well from 9-10.

I am sure this is when you will see how hardcore it got in there.

I called out the room at the end of it all..when I saw how many people put their hands up that Rudy was the only one who could beat Hillary I said "I am really saddened to see how many people think he is their answer. That is very telling that the fire that was there earlier tonight for all of us agreeing that we want a true Conservative is gone already and that makes me sick as a true Conservative."

To me the top winners tonight were Romney, Huckabee, Thompson, and blech...I hate to say this but Rudy. His night was not that bad but he certainly is not my top choice for President.

I called for a thining of the herd. Paul, Tancredo, and Hunter need to go. They virtually played zero in the room. It was sad because I really like Tom and Duncan and said that if a Republican wins the White House in 2008 they should all be given cabinet posts ASAP.

Except Paul...which who by the end of the night lost his one supporter...the 21 yr old guy who didn't raise his hand when asked if anyone supported him.

Finally...Luntz. A nice guy but can be insulting. When he compared a moderate conservative to a major serious conservative he wanted a show of hands...then he added "When I say major serious conservative I mean you can hear the German Nazi marching bands and get excited", I then said to him "There it is..exactly what I was talking about." Luntz said "Relax I was only joking." I said "I know you were and it is that kind of talk that I am absolutely disgusted by and sick of...sick of it Frank...enough is enough with the nazi conservative comparisons people have got to speak up for conservatives...true conservatives."

That in a short capsule is it. Met some really nice people and we had a discussion at the end of everything and went our own ways.

I thank Luntz for letting me say whatever I wanted to on camera and speak up for Conservatives and letting me call Ron Paul out on global television.

Hey, thanks!

GREAT job. I’m guessing the young guy in green in the front row was the Paulistinian. He didn’t raise his hand to say he was undecided.

No, please tell me how many people Rudy “surrounded himself with” were criminally indicted?

When running a government like NYC bigger than most governments of the nations on earth how is Rudy to be held culpable for the bad actions of a few?

But you suggest you can wield a mighty list, so let’s see it.

So tired of the attacks on the guy and he’s not even my candidate. But I lived through the time he was mayor and saw him fight against the forces allayed against him, called a fascist and the courts used in any way possible to stop his common sense approach to governing.

It’s understandable folks disagree with the guy on issues, so do I but if you want to attack the guy stick to the things you know as fact. Please.

It’s been great to get your first hand account on a polling process that is so quick to air. Luntz sounds like a piece of work but we’ll await to see how the data is objectively utilized if at all.

I share the sentiment on Romney. The guy is too qualified to rule out of hand. But unlike some, I would vote for Rudy if necessary to stop Hillary and hope and act for the best.

People forget already after the Shamnesty attempts, our voices can matter not just during the election. And I think that some people are forgetting that this issue is an important part of what separates those who fight against Hillary and her extremist agenda.

Ron Paul has been the lone voice in the wilderness for 20 years. I didn’t see it, either, until I realized one thing: there is not one power that I can think of that we gave the government that it has given back. We can use the government for that which it was never intended and end up and slaves, or we can make the government subject to us again.

what struck me is the standing ovation for McCain came out of respect from many who obviously do NOT support him for president. I found that remarkable and a testament to content of the character of the republican dominated audience. (there were a few pre-hillary types there from a few tiny cheers in the start)

At this point in the primary people the most constructive thing to do is to focus on the two frontrunners of Thompson and Romney. (not comments as to my position on each of them)

The five who are not Giuliani are just wasting out time. Hunter may be conservative but he has utterly failed as a candidate. McCain is just done and crusing on name recognition fumes. Huckabee is just a useful idiot for MSM manipulations; a ronpaul wanabe. ronpaul is just insane. (perfect assesment of the candidate) Tancredo is a one trick pony and finished.

Time for the adults to grow up and leave the Fruitless Five in the past.

Giuliani is just too much like hillary. Thompson nailed Giulain on that. He CREATES problems rather than solving them.

No Giulain, No problem

It solves the issue.

We need to narrow the field to the two. This will provide clarity of decision. unfortunatly the MSM wants dog and pony show.

If the MSM is serious, ronpaul should be out of any further debates.

the "true conservatives" who intend to sit at home and pop a cork to Hillary's inauguration because it gives them perverse revenge on the party.

Have you not paid attention or is your reading comprehension lacking?

Here it is. In the words of e.e. cummings (i sing of Olaf glad and big)

"there is some shit i will not eat..."

And before some literate ones decry this as an antiwar poem, I say that war has been waged on the unborn for a full generation.

Revenge has nothing to do with it.

sitetest, your recent postings are so far beneath you it's hard to believe you're actually typing the tripe you're spewing.

Rudy is a bad candidate, he is too socially liberal, and every Republican in this race besides Ron Paul would be better for this country.

But for you to state that Rudy must go down to "ignominious defeat," and I have to assume that this means "at the hands of a loathsome, criminal, Electoral College-abolishing, socialized medicine espousing, Communist military-loather," is to post the most moronic, unconservative crap ever posted on this board.

You know who Hillary Clinton is

* chuckle *

and you should be ashamed.

Dear Chunga,

“sitetest, your recent postings are so far beneath you...”

Maybe you’ve just overestimated me. ;-)

“But for you to state that Rudy must go down to ‘ignominious defeat,’...”

In that Mr. Giuliani is trying to purge the party of social conservatives (or at least of social conservatism - he’s happy to take our votes as long as we keep our mouths shut), any defeat of the baby killer will be an ignominious defeat.

"I have to assume that this means ‘at the hands of a loathsome, criminal, Electoral College-abolishing, socialized medicine espousing, Communist military-loather,’ is to post the most moronic, unconservative crap ever posted on this board.”

You assume much. Rather, it will be at the hands of conservatives, real conservatives, who will refuse to vote for a liberal, whether he/she has an “R” or a “D” posted to his/her backside.

“You know who Hillary Clinton is...”

Better than many.

“...and you should be ashamed.”

Nah, not at all.

Rather, you should think again about voting for Mr. Giuliani, should he win the nomination (God forbid).

I saw the first Clinton administration up close and personal.

Yet, I believe that our nation would be more harmed by a Giuliani presidency than a second Clinton presidency. A Clinton presidency will be awful and difficult. But it is likely that stiffened Republican opposition will mitigate the damage that Mrs. Clinton does. A Giuliani presidency will likely achieve even more liberal results than a Clinton presidency, because the Republican Party finds it exceedingly difficult to resist the liberal inclinations of a Republican president.

And the Republican Party will be destroyed in the bargain.

When your house is burning down, try not burn down the fire station, too.

I say that war has been waged on the unborn for a full generation.

Agreed. Even Ronald Reagan never actually accomplished anything to stop abortion.

In the words of e.e. cummings...."there is some shit i will not eat..."

Ok, well in the Word of God....
"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."

If it comes down to a vote for rooty against hitlery and national healthcare and nanny state diets and state funded abortions for teens, then I'll hold my nose and vote for rooty. But I won't like it, and I won't be gloating or "haughty" about it.

Read your report at work today - just stopping by to say thank you for doing what it took to be there and to be articulate as you were when called upon. That is tough to do! I watched the follow up with Luntz and thought your comments were THE BEST of the night.

Luntz went on to show on his charting how the lines (of reaction? by you in that room) went up every time one of the candidates started attacking Hitlery......and they all did quite an excellent job of that!

Obviously Hillary herself is THE ISSUE in this election for many Republicans - and I think for many independents and even some Dems. (my liberal siblings just cannot stomach her).....

She is THE ISSUE for me...though the nightmares would be practically as bad with any of the Dems in power.

My “projection”:

Rudy will be the Repub nominee - he came across very positive, very cheerful, and very anti-Hillary. Also he has dealth first hand with organized crime and had the strength to take them on. Whoever is the Repub candidate will have to have the strength to take on the “machine” that is the Demonazi party under Hitlery.

Fred Thompson could do as well, though he wanted to tone down the anti-Hillary theme.

THe evil one will have Bill Richardson as her VP - he is already part of her “family.”

Ron Paul will run (he indicated this to be a fact in his interview after the debate) as a third party candidate.

There will not be a “religious right” third party candidate unless Alan Keyes jumps in but he will not garner enough votes to be considered truly “third party”.

Ron Paul will be touted as splitting the conservative vote when, in fact, he will be mostly taking votes of the young “rebels” who don’t care a whit about politics as “usual” - and there are some oldsters like that too.....and because he is so antiwar - HE COULD ACTUALLY TAKE A LOT OF VOTES FROM HITLERY NOT FROM THE REPUB CANDIDATE.

The key in this election is the FRAUDULENT VOTE effort that they have already planned on - and I am sure have their war room hard at work on now - using the illegal immigrants as their patsies.

We can only pray that she or one of her well-disciplined lieutenants crosses over into open flagrant criminal behavior that is so egregious it demands an anti-hillary vote from multiplied millions.

That’s really our only hope.

To think that this is a “normal” election coming up is to be extremely naive.

I am voting for Ron Paul. I’ve been a member of the Free Republic for about a year. I’d been reading a great deal — such as The Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, The Wal-Mart Effect (talk about scales falling off my eyes), Game as Old as Empire, and The Secret History of the American Empire — and getting really fed up with both parties and main stream media fighting and arguing, the lies of our current administration, and the loss of liberties with the Patriot Act. Then I came across a video of Ron Paul in a documentary, I think it was the Money Masters. I began to research him and I knew this was one person who understands our Republic, our foundations, our Constitution & Bill of Rights, economics, sound money, and foreign policy. I found the most useful information at RonPaulLibrary.com . My research paid off. After 30 years as an Independent I’ve registered Republican to vote for Dr. Paul.
