Posted on 10/19/2007 12:23:53 PM PDT by Pyro7480
CNNs Jack Cafferty... disdainfully criticized the appointment of a birth control skeptic to head a "family planning" agency at the Department of Health and Human Services by President Bush. "The question this hour is -- how much does it matter if the Bush Administration's appointee to head family planning programs has -- (LAUGHS) has been critical of birth control? This stuff is right out of The Twilight Zone.'"
Caffertys comments came in response to the appointment of Susan Orr to the post in HHS....
Cafferty... was so "taken aback" by this appointment that he read the introductory remark twice....
JACK CAFFERTY: ...A critic of birth control is President Bush's latest choice to head up family planning programs at the Department of Health and Human Services. Let me just read that again.... Susan Orr will oversee $283 million in annual grants....
In 2001, when President Bush proposed dropping a requirement that all health insurance plans for government employees cover a wide range of birth control, here's what Orr had to say.... 'We're quite please because fertility is not a disease. It's not a medical necessity that you have it.' Orr was an official with the Family Research Council at the time. Critics say it's just another appointment that truly politicizes family planning....
At the end of the hour, Cafferty read some of the viewers answers... and most sounded like the could have been taken off the left-wing blogosphere....
Sharon writes from New Jersey, 'Putting an anti-birth control person in charge of family planning is perfect Bush logic: no birth control equals more babies. More babies means more children to deny health benefits to, therefore, leaving more money to pay Halliburton and Blackwater. It all makes perfect sense.'

Culture wars ping!
Jack jumped the gun again on “Happy Hour”.
Hey Cafferty, aren’t you late for Happy Hour?
Beaten by 46 seconds!
Sheesh. Sometimes I think you should have a license to watch TV.
This bonehead flunked the exam.
Here’s another one who should be asked “if YOUR Mother had had an abortion, which is a woman’s right in YOUR mind, you wouldn’t be here to be supporting baby-killing now, would you?”
I am certain this decision will strengthen the GOP standing among the general electorate.
I am also cetain I am being sarcastic.
I hope spmeone catches his on-the-air grabber and it makes it to UTube.
Abortion and birth control for middle schoolers IS “family planning” to Libs.
Responsiblity, morals, common sense...that don’t count.
Cafferty is the one out of the twilight zone. He even outdoes the Wolfman Blintzer.
‘some guy named Cafferty on CNN....’
Well Cafferty hyperbole aside this does seem like another odd Bush appointment. Shouldn’t someone in this position have a background in health or medicine?
Another Cafferty “Hit and Run”...
Cafferty suffers from Terminal Lightweight-itis which he contracted as a longtime local (not national) talking head on New York City’s WOR, or was it WPIX? Whatever. He’s a nobody who has a job at CNN because he is a kneejerk Leftist and Bush-hater. His opinion carries all the weight of a fly fart.
Absolutely everyone believes the idea “a free press is critical to a vibrant democracy.” Has anyone asked the idea “can an overzealous press destroy a democracy?”
With the above idea that they are absolutely indespensable, CNN (and some other media outlets) behave as though they are a 4th branch of Gov’t.
The best way to deal with this loudmouth nasty bar drunk know-it-all, know-nothing, divorced for being a vicious loser and congenital liar...is to send him a case of whiskey every week...He’ll be dead in less than two months.
“”family planning” agency at the Department of Health and Human Services”
Please point out to me the article and section of the Constitution that authorizes this agency or the Dept of Health and Human Services for that matter.
Any self-respecting conservative appointed to that position would shut the place down.
cafferty has mulitple daughters....it is apparent that he supports all their abortions!!!!
A more curious question, one which I sure Cafferty wouldn’t think of asking is, If the official policy in schools is promoting abstinence, how is handing out condoms in keeping with the message?
