They just don't make Nobel Prizes the way they used to. That's the feeling we get after hearing that Al Gore was named co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize yesterday for his global warming alarmism. The other co-winner was the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group of scientists.
It was easy enough to understand how Hollywood awarded Gore an Oscar for his climate movie ''An Inconvenient Truth.'' The Academy Award judges live in the land of make-believe. But the Nobel is a serious prize and its judges are supposed to do better work than the movie crowd.
What's most unfortunate is that the Nobel Prize now confers an aura of legitimacy on Gore's message that we are in, as he said yesterday, ''a planetary emergency.''
If you ask us, the real emergency now is the increased danger of politicians pointing to Gore's Nobel Prize as justification for fleecing the public with bogus ''carbon taxes'' and other environmental scams that give them more public money to play with and more control over the lives of ordinary citizens.
A British judge ruled this past week that teachers who plan to show Gore's movie to school children must ... stop scaring children with tall tales of planetary doom.
Al Gore may have won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, but so did Yassar Arafat, back in 1994. Just look at today's headlines from the Mideast to see how much peace Arafat produced. That's about what to expect from Gore's efforts in the way of rescuing us from his self-described ''planetary emergency.''

You’ve got to read the whole article to appreciate the idiocy of the committee who awards these medals...Yassar Arafat, the biggest Terrorist in the Middle East before Bin Laden, Al Gore for his junk science and his lies about it and his own flagrant abuse of the environment. Idiocy, morons and the sheep that follow them...liberals run amuck, what a hoot!

Al says he will donate the money to The Alliance for Climate Protection, a 501(c)(3) organization, and just who happens to be Chairman of the Board? You guessed it, it's Generous Al. Tax shelter for the in-your-face hypocrite?
Not true. The Nobel Peace Prize, unlike the prizes for the hard sciences, has been nothing but a joke from nearly the beginning. It is awarded by politicians, most often to other politicians, and strictly as a method of advancing a particular partisan viewpoint. From that standpoint, it is no different than the Oscars. Very few of the winners have ever had anything to do with advancing the cause of peace.
I heard Gore on only one interview last week. I think it exposed him as the airhead he really is. When he had the attention of the whole world he had absolutely nothing to say. That transcript has probably been ‘lost’ like many of the other Worst Moments in Liberalism.
