Former lacrosse coach Mike Pressler files lawsuit against Duke

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --Former Duke University men's lacrosse coach Mike Pressler, who resigned under the pressure of allegations that three of his players raped a stripper, has filed a lawsuit against the private Durham university, school officials said Friday.

~ Snip ~

The Herald-Sun of Durham reported Friday night on its Web site that Pressler's lawsuit was filed in state court, alleging the university broke the terms of the confidential settlement when university senior vice president John Burness made disparaging comments about the former coach.

The suit said one of the comments was made April 9 in Newsday, when Burness said the difference between Pressler and current lacrosse coach John Danowski was "night and day." The second comment came in June, when Burness told The Associated Press "it was essential for the team to have a change of leadership in order to move forward."

Leftist faculty couldn't keep from more libel. Look for more circling of the wagons from angry studies.

In this case, anyone who can be sued should be sued. The more the merrier.

Lessons need to be taught and learned by as many as possible.

So a former state employee is files suit in a state court, against a state university, because another state employee ran is mouth, so he can get state bucks (compliments of taxpayers). Did I state that right?

I agree. Sue ‘em all, let the Supremes sort it out if necessary.

Duke’s leadership in this matter was/is a national disgrace.

I hope he already cashed a big check from Duke, and is now suing because of this breach of their agreement.

Nope. this is a privately run United Methodist School, administered by a board of trustees (24 out of 36 of which various methodist conventions directly elect). The school has a 3 - 5 billion dollar private endowment that will be the deep pockets - no taxpayer funds involved.

The school did bad things, got sued, settled to keep it quiet, then broke their agreement not to blame things that happened on former employee, or slander him. the school renegged so Pressler is taking them back to court, probably knock down drag out this time.

Personally I hope that Univ. gets sued out of existence. It is an abomination.

>>Did I state that right?

No, you didn’t. Duke is private.

And he’d still have a case if Duke were public. If it were, it’d be a price taxpayers pay, for hiring idiots. Which is what the taxpayers of Durham are about to learn, when Durham finally gets hit with the results of all the suits they’re dealing with.

They forced him out when several Lacrosse players were falsely accused of rape by a stoned prostitute who was trying to get out of being put in the local drunk tank.

Would it be grossly unfair to say he resigned to protect his reputation instead of standing by his students and daring the school to fire him for standing by innocent young men ?
