As you know, if Brodhead had suspended the team, and thereafter said something like - "Because of the serious nature of the charges, any further questions regarding this matter must absolutely be referred to Duke University's legal counsel. I am directing all Duke administration officials and faculty members to cooperate with law enforcement officials during the investigation and to refrain from making any public statements."
But, he didn't. And the snowball began rolling downhill.
You obviously haven’t followed this story. I would suggest you read the “Durham in Wonderland” blog before making any more ignorant statements.
You stated it spectacularly wrong. Thanks for asking, though.
Would it be grossly unfair to say he resigned to protect his reputation instead of standing by his students and daring the school to fire him for standing by innocent young men ?
Have you been in his position? I really hope that arm chair is comfortable. How’s the view from sitting on your @$$?
There is a difference between getting fired and resigning .How is the view with your head in your ass?
You’ve got mail.
They thanks. I needed to be told 85 different times.
“They”...hey
...just keeping track:)
It was 2:22 in the morning. That’s my second mistake. Don’t want them to get NiFong after me, or whatever his name is.
Sorry -- didn't mean to be 'piling on', I wrote (as I suppose others did) my comment as soon as I saw yours, without reading further to see that corrections had been posted by other readers.
For lack of a better term, he “got resigned.” If he didn’t resign, he was going to be fired.

You’ve gotten corrected on that enough. :) There ARE lawsuits pending against the City of Durham and several associated government employees and entities, from the three players themselves...if those lawsuits pan out ($10 mil each, from what’s been reported), then those of us who pay taxes here in Durham are going to get pounded, because the city will, of course, never absorb the cost of its own negligence—they’ll just pass it on to us.
Personally, I plan to be out of here by the time that happens. :)
