Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.
Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."
In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."
"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.
"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."
Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."
Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

bigoted
adjective
obstinately convinced of the superiority or correctness of one's own opinions and prejudiced against those who hold different opinion.
To be a Christian Jew is essentially to be the ultimate "white Uncle Tom."
She could have added that a person can still be a Jew and a Christian..........Do you really believe that? In my experience when a Jew embraces Christianity the only people who continue to respect their Jewishness are Christians and other Jews who embraced Christianity.
I've been one for almost forty years, and I can assure you that while my relatives don't consider me Jewish, a certain little scumbag housepainter would have, a half century ago, halfway across the world.
It's really odd the way that a person's "Jewish ethnicity" will be "respected" should said person become a Hindu, or a Buddhist, or even an athiest -- but, if said person becomes (*gasp*) a Christian, well, all bets are off, and don't even think about applying for "aliya" ("The Law of Return.") They've gladly accepted NON-ethnic, NON-"religious" Russian "Jews" into Israel (people who blatantly gamed the system to get out of the socialist worker's utopia) -- who now live in Israel, in their own "subculture" (essentially "Little Russia", complete with butchershops selling pork sausage and so forth). But, if you answer "Yes" when asked if you are a Christian, well, sorry, Charlie.
At the same time, there is no shortage of "good, church-going folk" who will look down their nose at you (when being polite) and "say things behind your back" that they think you'll never hear.
If nothing else, it's a great test of the measure and scope of one's faith and committment to his beliefs.
The old joke is that the Chief Rabbis were arguing over who should be considered to be a Jew (for purposes of admission to Israel), and the argument was settled when one of them said that "Anyone crazy enough to want to be a Jew is Jewish!"
Well, unless he's a Christian.
So, I guess any Jew who's crazy enough to want to be a Christian is a Christian -- but he's not a Jew anymore (except to the antisemites, who show a remarkable embrace of diversity when making such distinctions /sarc).
All that said, I do consider myself a Jew, just as any target who's been called an "Uncle Tom" realizes that he's black.
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words cannot steal my ethnicity.
PS: With respect to the word "perfected", maybe that's a term in current vogue. Way Back When, the popular term was "completed". When used, it was done so entirely void of animus. To explain the rationale behind the use of the word would require a short treatise on the theology behind it, which I've neither the time nor inclination to write (nor would it be on topic).
hmmm
That definition has two clauses. In the absence of the second clause, it would apply to virtually everyone, including -- let's pick a random example -- conservatives.
bigotedadjective
obstinately convinced of the superiority or correctness of one's own opinions and prejudiced against those who hold different opinion.
The second clause is NOT implicit in the first.
Therefore, if one believes he is right, he is NOT therefore a bigot.
As much as Howard Stern used to be offensive I respect something he said on his show once.
His words were similar to this but maybe not exact “If we cant learn from each other and understand that we are different then were not going to learn anything at all. We can poke fun at stereotypes because sometimes that is what brings people together. What people don't know is what keeps people apart.”
Prejudices remain prejudices through ignorance. If we cant have a dialog on certain topics because it isn't politically correct then liberals remain happy as pigs in shit. The more dysfunctional and fearful society is the more liberals can grow big government to police our every move. Next thing ya know we will have excessive Socialism on our hands.
Either we work it out or the liberals will do it for us.
True, but if one also believes that everyone else who does not hold your beliefs is wrong, then he is.
For some reason though politics and religion are different. It is ok to feel that way about liberals, but not Jews.
Sorry, that’s like revising the 2000 election rules after the election took place.
The duties and responsibilities of the Messiah were clearly laid out PRIOR to the time of Jesus. He did not fufill them.
And after he died the rulebook get rewritten. Sheesh, talk about Algore...
Hypocrisy and political correctness are not the sole provence of liberals.
BUMP
People don’t want to be convicted by Jesus so they hide behind this PC I’m offended nonsense. This is not a Church and State or offending the poor little Jews, this is a Christian professing her Faith to a non-believer. Not only that he is a Drive Thru Jew who is lost and needs Jesus.
She took heat for the converting Mooselimbs to Christian statement and he was trying to box her into a corner. Trouble is Queen Ann can box back and did.
This is exactly what Free Speech is about. Freedom to lift up the Name of Jesus in public. Will we drive people away or bring them in for a Breath of Fresh Air? The dirty little secret is people enjoy talking about their Faith.

Feel free to do so. I do not share your theological beliefs.
I am aware of that - however, Jews are routinely killed by Moslems as they ride the bus, go to malls, doing every day things that you are I take for granted. Or do their deaths not matter??????????
Ann foolishly wwalked into a trap on a program that nobody watches.
Your right, I’m a Racist, Sexist, Homophobe. Certainly you can do better than that on FR.

What is your problem, man? I don’t approve of what Ms. Coulter said. I have that right, don’t I? I Don’t care to have my religion ridiculed!!!!!!!
You will be offended only if your looking to be offended which is exactly the case here. Your one of those people who want to be offended. Thats why you pulled the Racist card. Get over being a Jew, nobody cares but you.
Who said you could go through life w/o being offended anyway?? Talk about sounding like a lib. It’s called Free Speech and your being offended is the Price. Queen Ann ROX!!

You still don’t get it: Ann is not a theologian. She is not even Bill Buckley. She goes on a show that nobody watches and makes an outrageous statement. Next, she will claim that her dentist is Jewish! She did this, not me. so, you get over it. I call it like I see it.
Let me expand on that comment: Ann is no Michelle Malkin who sometimes HOSTS the O’Reilly factor and fills in for Sean Hannity. It has to do with demeanor and knowing when not to stick your foot in your mouth. Ann could not host a show because she is a bomb thrower. She threw the wrong bomb as far as I am concerned. And I recall she tossed off her mike and walked off one Fox show a few months ago. She may have been correct to be angry - but she did not handle it the right way.
If I were to say that I embraced Buddhism or some other mystical eastern religion as many of my brethren have, it would be considered hip or amusing or a sign I was interested in spiritual things but, to say I follow the risen messiah and all of a sudden I'm not even a Jew any more. That's more hurtful then being called a derogatory name by a gentile.
But, they don't realize that as human beings, they have no autority to say who God did or did not make a Jew.
The reason they get so angry is because deep down, they really do suspect that it's all true. And it scares them a little and with fear comes anger and resentment.

Oh, booh, hoo, hoo! If people are annoyed with you it is because you have rejected MONOTHEISM and chosen to throw your lot in with people who have persecuted us for 2,000 years. Get a grip - G-d does not like it when you disobey His Laws. By the way: why do people like you have a fratricidal jealousy of Judaism? is it because our presence reminds you that YOU ARE WRONG?????
