Ann Coulter did her best to drop a bomb on the October 10 episode of "Tucker" on MSNBC. At the conclusion of her interview, Ann Coulter announced that the National Enquirer was just reporting that John Edwards had an 18-month affair while on the campaign trail. You can read the story here.
Before going any further, this allegation must be met with a healthy degree of skepticism. First of all, the story is originating from the National Enquirer, which in and of itself, raises questions as to the story's reliability. Secondly, Coulter had a notorious run-in earlier this year with Elizabeth Edwards on an MSNBC episode of "Harball." Coulter would have every motivation to repeat a salacious tabloid sex allegation about John Edwards.

Can we say Newt? There are philandering dirt bags of every stripe.
“I hope Ann knows what shes doing. I also hope the smarmy rat shes dating isnt using her exactly for this kind of insurgency”
Yes, Ann is just a weak minded woman susceptible to the overpowering mind of a liberal male. She doesn’t stand a chance.
Ann is, by far, my favorite columnist.
It’s odd that I am now questioning her judgment, but there you go.
The Enquirer refuses to name the woman and the woman refuses to speak to the Enquirer. That’s not exactly Gennifer Flowers we have here.
I wouldn’t blame a legitimate news source for spiking this story. Without anyone confessing and without a named accuser, it could all be somebody’s vivid imagination, whether it be from the Left or the Right. I’d have to disregard it without somebody actually going on the record to confirm it.
Besides, running this about a known lawsuit abuser is like begging to be sued.
And another one is running for president...as a Republican.
Exactly so.
Children? How can someone with a p*nis and adams apple have kids? Interesting...
How can it be getting old? You've only been here for 5 months.
Besides, it's da rule.
My, Acid Annie’s having a busy week. “;^(
Thanks for the ping.

You think the National Enquirer is less accurate than the Washington Post or LATimes, CBS or CNN?
Doubt it.
“If the National Enquirer is running this and reporting it as fact it’s probably true. Ever since Carol Burnett sued them they’ve been very careful.”
As I recall, they were the first to report the Gary Hart affair. Anyone remember the pictures of the “Monkey Business” on the cover of the Enquirer?
Well, it was put out there by someone. So, to my mind, there are two angles: is the story about the affair true, and who planted this one and why.
FWIW, I notice that the Breck Girl has not come out with one very po'ed, vociferous, and adamant denial. Interesting, that. Also makes me wonder if it's because there's more than one wench involved and Edwards isn't sure which one he needs to issue a non-denial denial on.
Note to Mrs. Edwards: If this story ain't true, why the HECK aren't you screaming bloody murder? And if the story is true...Sigh. Lady, you need your head examined for staying with that guy.
She was for Hunter the other night on H&C.
Didn’t the National Enquirer contribute significantly to the Clinton scandals, and later were found to be accurate - much to everyone’s utter amazement?
That said...if its true, I just wonder which gender was involved in little Johnny’s tryst.
No, she did not. Some want to assume that from the wording, but it tied in with an actor calling someone else gay.
Ann was on Hannity’s show and said she did not want to have to defend Rudy for the next year.
Means, she does not want him to be the candidate, much dismay to Rudy fans.
So now they have to attack her.
No wonder so many people are afraid to be honest about their opinion on a candidate.
