No predominately Muslim country can/should be trusted including Saudi Arabia. Neither should we depend on any for any natural resource. The Muslims represent a far greater threat than Communism ever did.

I'm in total agreement with that statement.

Of course it was the Western Christians that ransacked the Eastern Christians at Constantinople in the 4th Crusade. Up to that time they held off the Muslims in overrunning the area.

You're right.

The US and Europe should immediately stop all immigration of any Muslims.

Stop it in it's tracks.

We are paying dealer for that.

I believe we'll pay more dearly for it in the future.

But it has, and it was genocide, so I don't see how anyone can vote against it, nor how GWB can fail to sign it if it gets that far.

Yes, it was genocied, but this resolution is part of a new strategy to damage our efforts in Iraq. It will be an insult to our ally, the Turks, who are being extremely helpful in the movement of equipment into Iraq and in other ways. The whole point of this is to jeopardize our relationship and their help. It is of a piece with the attack on Blackwater in the attempt to cause us to lose in Iraq by tangential means.

I agree completely, it has no real relevance today. Were I in Congress I'd bury it in some sub-committee, it's not our business, if it came to the floor I couldn't vote against it.

Is BDS terminal? If so, we can look forward to better times ahead.

What a waste of energy!

You're so right. What's the slaughter of a million and a half Christians by muslims have to do with anything going on in the world today./sarc

You both hit a bulls eye with your comments.

It gets me that we are about to open the doors wider to allow immigration in from Iraq because of the pressure of the UN and I guess some guilt on the WH.

Since we really don’t know who the enemy is from the M/E, would be nice to put a hold on any “new immigration entrance” into the US. Lets give it a shot.

You’re right. With them we’re damned if we do and damed if we don’t.

Under the millet system of Ottoman law, Armenians (as dhimmis, along with Greeks, Jews
and other ethnic and religious minorities) were subject to laws different from those applied
to Muslims. They had separate legal courts, although disputes involving a Muslim fell
under sharia-based law. Armenians were exempt from serving in the military and were instead
made to pay an exemption tax, the jizya; their testimony in Islamic courts was inadmissible
against Muslims; they were not allowed to bear arms, and they were heavily taxed,
although they were one of the largest minorities in the Ottoman Empire.

I’m not comparing anyone to anything. I’m just saying I don’t see how our national interests are served by this.

I don't think so. He'll be gone in '09.

Not good. Who do we need more now as an ally the Turkish military of the (non-existent) Armenian military?

You mean the same Turks who wouldn't allow us to off-load and transit a division of our troops to Northern Iraq at the beginning of the war in 2003? How many of our soldiers lost their lives because of that?

I've got a lot of admiration for the Turks - they were steadfast allies against the Russkies during the Cold War, and their contingent of troops in Korea was one of the toughest outfits there. However,...

...the Turks need to get over it - they aren't to blame for what their great grandfathers did 90 years ago. It'd just be nice if they could say "hey, that was wrong, and we are sorry that it happened." No one is talking about reparations.

BTW, the downside to this is that we will have to give more taxpayer dollars to Turkey to appease them. Why do you think they opened there ports to us to move military equipment in in the first place? Money is what Turkey will seek and we will be more than happy to oblige.

There was no reason to do this now, except to undermine the President. But when you do that in these times, you also undermine the war effort, as well. I really pray that if a terrorist attack must take place, it takes place in Washington. That’s all I will wish out loud.

Nothing will happen in this country until another terrorist attack on us that will make 9-11 look like small potatoes. Then, kiss our Constitution goodbye.
