HEADLINE: Israel May OK Division of Jerusalem

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert (AP Photo)

Summary of Six Day war from BBC: After a period of relative peace in the Middle East(?), Palestinian guerrilla groups, supported by Egypt and Syria, started a series of attacks on the Israeli border in 1965.

These were followed by Israeli reprisals and a gradual build-up of Arab military forces around Israel's border.

The Second Arab-Israeli war that began on 5 June 1967 ended on 10 June and became known as the six-day war - it changed the face of the Middle East conflict.

At the end of the war Israel had succeeded in almost doubling the amount of territory it controlled.

Israel seized Gaza and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt in the south and the Golan Heights from Syria in the north. It also pushed Jordanian forces out of the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Pre-1967 borders:

post Six Day War:

Israel Generals Rabin, Dayan, and Narkis enter Jerusalem.

Soldiers at the Kotel (Western/Wailing Wall) after Six Day War

Quote from Yitzchak Rabin: "There was one moment in the Six Day War which symbolized the great victory: that was the moment in which the first paratroopers under Gur's command reached the stones of the Western Wall, feeling the emotion of the place; there never was, and never will be, another moment like it."

The arab history with the Kotel includes building slum housing around it and dumping sewage in front of it.

Yitzchak Rabin in address to Knesset 1995: "I said yesterday, and repeat today, that there are not two Jerusalems; there is only one Jerusalem. From our perspective, Jerusalem is not a subject for compromise. Jerusalem was ours, will be ours, is ours and will remain as such forever."

To pray at the Kotel is an awesome experience. To me, the Old City is the best part of Israel, let alone Jerusalem. People like the Jellyfish seem to act as if they can be safe and snug in Tel Aviv and don't need much else. And the U.S. hasn't moved the embassy to Jerusalem, even though President Bush said he would in his campaign.

Rabin, Bibi, Barak, Sharon, Jellyfish--- they've all been willing to carve up Israel and throw it in the trash. So much energy is spent talking about giving away the land, it's no wonder the arab world doesn't have Israel on a map.

Jordan wouldn't take the so-called palestinian refugees, who were actually Jordanians, but they'll take control of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount? It all makes so much sense. Doesn't it? To quote the Black Eyed Peas: Where is the Love?

quote from Paul Newman's character in Exodus: "I don't come from anywhere. I'm a sabra. A native-born Palestinian."

Israel should spend less time worrying about Syria and more time worrying about what Olmert and Rice have planned for them.

Israel’s mistake was keeping the conquered land separate and creating settlements. They should as soon as possible incorporated the territory into a greater Israel.

Given the intro photo, no point in reading further.

For me, the second-to-last image in this original post says it all.
That is the only (marginally) defensible version of a permanent Israel.

I wish I were a young man today. I feel so strongly about that I just might consider becoming an Israeli citizen.

(No, I am not Jewish).

The highlight of my 1986 visit to Israel was Jerusalem. Our group was able to visit the Western Wall, and it was awesome (and I’m not Jewish!). I remember telling our Israeli guide our last night in Israel, “Tzur, don’t you ever let them take away this place from the Jewish people again”. Back then, the thought that “them” would be an Israeli Prime Minister and his cohorts was beyond the realm of imagination. Olmert and his crew of nincompoops (I have to use a word that won’t get me banned) disgust me beyond words, but I love Israel and Jerusalem with all my heart, as I’ve done for the past 40 years!

Rabbi Kahana' (zt"l; Hy"d) said that in '67 Mashiach knocked at the door but the Israeli government not only didn't open it but locked it.

Israel should have kept, keep and continue to keep all territories they gained in his wars. Litani River as the Northern border, Jordan river to the East, Suez to the West.

Someday, the Moschiach ben David will do that and more.

The current jellyfish and his minions will be remembered as a scab on the buttocks of Jewish history.

Try to imagine standing at the Western Wall trying to pray while arab youths are above you throwing down rocks and bottles because Jordan has complete authority of the Temple mount, G-d forbid. Or perhaps Olmert has more in mind... imagine not being able to enter the Old City at all, because it’s declared off-limits to infidels, like other supposed holy sites of Islam.
