President Bush met with his economic team today in the Oval Office. August 2007 marked the 49th consecutive month of job growth since 2003. And that's the longest uninterrupted job growth on record for our country. (Transcript)
The president also took this opportunity to speak about terrorism and to defend US interrogation policy since some people, like Senator Jay Rockefeller (Democrat-W.Va.) and the good folks at the New York Times, apparently have nothing better to do than worry about terrorists rights. (Source)
By the way, according to a recent FOX News poll, 1 in 5 Democrats thinks the world will be better off if America loses the war in Iraq. Not that we question their patriotism or anything.
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates arrived in Peru today and met with leaders and military officials.
And the new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen and General David Petraeus met with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Iraq.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
You are a very very good artist and I am so appreciative of the drawing you did of me as yet I have not found a suitable frame for it but I have it a very safe place and soon as I find one I will get it framed and take a photo of it so you can see the finished article.
I thank you so much for it and also of course of the great one of the VP.
I wondered that as well. I wonder if the President has to sit for this I never read anywhere that it did but I would have thought to get the likeness as good as that it might have had to.
Another long time doser great to see you all tonight.

Job View Brightens On Growth In Sept. — And August Too
By Kirk Shinkle
Friday’s stronger-than-expected jobs report show a recession is likely off the table, propelling stocks to record highs.
The U.S. economy added 110,000 jobs in September, the Labor Department said, a little higher than expected.
The real bright spot came in the form of revisions to August numbers. Labor says job rolls swelled by 89,000 in August after initially reporting a 4,000-job drop. That was the first decline in four years.
The jobless rate rose to 4.7% in September from 4.6%, but that was due to workers rejoining the job hunt.
“The job situation in America is holding its own,” said Stuart Hoffman, chief economist at PNC Financial Services. “It turns out the decline in August was a fluke.”
Wages rose handily too, with average hourly earnings soaring 0.4%. Year over year, they rose 4.1%, the most since February.

US Budget Deficit Drops to $161 Billion
By ANDREW TAYLOR,AP

WASHINGTON (AP) - The federal government registered a budget deficit of $161 billion for the just-completed fiscal year, the Congressional Budget office estimated Friday.
The 2007 deficit figure represents considerable improvement over the $248 billion deficit posted last year. It’s even smaller when compared to the size of the economy - the measure deemed most important by economists.
At 1.2 percent of gross domestic product, the fiscal picture is the best it’s been since 2001, the last year the government ran a budget surplus.

Lovely cat photos.
Thanks, sorry it’s been sporadic posting on my part. I’ve missed you all. :) How are you? Well, I hope.
Or as we say in Britain a prawn - will do.
Apart from our orange dosers :o)
I am fine
He will never get credit for how well this country is being
run and for the fact that we’ve not been attacked again!
But....we know...and we DO thank him...and his administration!
God bless them all!
Amen
Hi, Snugs :) I stepped away from the computer for a bit.
I would very much like a prawn - when I lived in Taiwan we used to get huge succulent prawns unlike anything I have ever seen since - they were so much larger than what we refer to as shrimp that I thought they were a differant species.
Good evening, Snugs!
It is very frustrating knowing that we have the best economy in recent history and yet the pundits still moan and
groan that our president doesn’t do enough.
Hope you and your dad have a lovely weekend!
***The eyes on that statue do seem to follow you .... almost the same way that Spot’s eyes follow you when you’re in the kitchen ;)***
That’s BRILLIANT, Jonny. I never thought of a wax replica of Spot. Are you planning to make it soon? I don’t think he should travel with his crown, though. I’ll insure it and send it to you via messenger.
Hey, Spot. Guess where you’re going?
:)
