Clinton assails Bush's 'war on science'

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Thursday she would sign an executive order rescinding President Bush's restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.

The presidential candidate also said she would bar political appointees from altering or removing scientific conclusions from government research without a legitimate reason for doing so.

"The Bush administration has declared war on science," the New York senator said. "When I am president, scientific integrity will not be the exception it will be the rule."

Her address to the Carnegie Institution for Science was timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Sputnik satellite by the Soviet Union. The launch, which caught U.S. scientists by surprise, helped start the U.S.-Soviet space race and led to the creation of National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

The candidate said as a little girl she was fascinated by Sputnik, but that today's scientific challenges often come from political ideology instead of foreign powers.

"For six and half years under this president, it's been open season on open inquiry," Clinton said. "By ignoring or manipulating science, the Bush administration is letting our economic competitors get an edge in the global economy. I believe we have to change course, and I know America is ready."

She said Bush's limits on federal funds for embryonic stem cell research amounts to a "ban on hope."

On the campaign trail, Clinton has repeatedly slammed what she calls Bush's "war on science" and accused the administration of allowing conservative political ideology to interfere with research and scientific evidence. She cites administration officials who have questioned the scientific evidence of global warming and who have suggested a link existed between abortion and breast cancer.

As president, Clinton said she would:

• Expand human and robotic space exploration and speed development of vehicles to would replace the space shuttle.

• Launch a space-based climate change initiative to combat global warming.

• Create a $50-billion strategic energy fund to research ways to boost energy efficiency and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

• Comply with a legal requirement that the executive branch issue a national assessment on climate change every four years. She would also expand the assessment to reflect how U.S. regions and economic sectors are responding to the challenges posed by climate change.

• Name an assistant to the president for science and technology, a position that was eliminated in the Bush White House.

• Re-establish the Office of Technology Assessment.

The tactics of the leftists, when logic fails fall back to hyperbole.

And exactly what amount of knowledge does this whinning, screaming, cussing idiot have concerning science? What a shame to have someone like Hillary as a President of this country. We would be the laughing stock of the world.

I’d like to know how as President she plans to curtail her husbands penchant for sexual assault on women with large breasts.

I wonder what the Hildabeast would do if a federal department issued a report concluding that homosexuality could be cured by psychiatric methods?? I suspect any such report would be buried deeper than the Mindanao Trench.

And let the tax payer grant money flow, with proper kickbacks of course. I'm telling you we are in a heap of trouble. The truth be damned post modern “scientist” who generates political power and not science will be one tool the dirt bags like Clinton will use to control the masses while they of course enjoy their necessary lifestyles.

Greed for money is much more honest than lust for power.

This is part of their very serios effort to DEMONIZE all christians for the 2008 election.

They are doing this very well.

Guiliani’s support is about “removing the extreme christians from politics” (oh and he was mayor on 9/11) In fact I have heard that echo from guiliani women in the local republican club.

We also have this with the emphasis with the whole Dobson candidate for fundraising non-flap.

Hillary is going to run the anti-religion candidacy.
her platform will be Dr. Frankenstien for Surgeon General, a Hedonist out of every closet, and stoning of the faithful.

The candidate said as a little girl she was fascinated by Sputnik

It gave her faith in "scientific" socialism. It proved the Soviet new man's "socialist technological superiority."

Did she clear this with George Soros first? Maybe she needs to enlist his politicizing science support group to “educate the people” to their version of science.

A Clinton and science, that ought to be a sight to see.

All she means is that the abortion breast cancer link will be COMPLETELY and for all time covered up, not just downplayed.

If science can tell us how life began then surely it can tell us WHEN life begins.

Fetal farming for genetic cannibalism and abortion are criminal acts and Hillary knows all too well that it is murder.

Clinton said. "By ignoring or manipulating science, the Bush administration is letting our economic competitors get an edge in the global economy."

Does this include the partisan operative who worked within NASA and may have deliberately muddled findings to support the case of man made global warming?

By “scientific research”, the woman means destroying embryoes in an effort to legitimize abortion on demand. For Hillary and the Far Left it is all about their friggin’ abortion rights.

Specifics are not forthcoming I see.

We are already doing this.

It’s worse than hyperbole, it’s down right lying. What Hillary wants is the feminization of science. She and her cohorts would convert science to another meta narrative to demonstrate how white man has destroyed the planet.

The Useful Idiots will buy this kind of talk because Bush is an unapologetic Christian. That associates him with the anti-evolution crowd, a group that genuinely is anti-science.

Like a good joke, a political smear has to have at least a little grounding in reality, even if it's false when examined in detail.
