Forty Men Arrested for Having Sex in Tennessee Public Parks

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — An undercover investigation into public sex in Johnson City parks has led to the arrest of 40 men in two weeks.

"Our parks are for family use. People should not be exposed to this while they are out there with their family or trying to enjoy the walking trails," Johnson City Police Chief John Lowry said. "They are not built nor maintained for sexual activity, be it homosexual activity or heterosexual activity."

The investigation in the Winged Deer and Buffalo Mountain parks began after police received complaints from the public.

"Part of this took place off the paved trails. There's a thing out there (at Winged Deer Park) they've evidently termed the 'Man Cave,"' Lowry said. "It's a good way off the paved trail. It's underbrush that's grown up and resembles a cave."

As part of the investigation, undercover officers would strike up conversations with men approaching a trail leading to the Man Cave. Some of those conversations led to proposals for sex and several men exposed themselves or groped the officers, police said.

The suspects from Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina ranged in age from 26 to 85.

Buffalo Mountain has tons of American Chestnut trees on its slopes.

Sounds like they've got quite a few American chinnuts too.

Photos?

So much for innocent until proven guilty.

The whole story sounds weird; police solicitations and set-ups.

After they are found guilty, I have no problem with posting/publishing photos, addresses, etc.

A schoolteacher? Impossible. Only Catholic priests are involved in this sort of thing. Teacher? Never! Well, it must have been a teacher from a PRIVATE school!

It must be a very, very dark area of the park.

Johnson City, Tennessee is home to East Tennessee State University, which for a time had the only real AIDS research center east of the Mississippi. Needless to say, it was big magnet for gay men with AIDS who came to the city for treatment, bringing their significant others with them.

I worked at a retail men's clothing store to put myself through school at the time, and unfortunately had to deal with them every day whenever they came in and went on a Tommy Hilfiger binge. I still feel dirty about it. Ugh!

No one pronounced them guilty...arrest records are public information and should be published (not publicizing arrests is one way that third world dictatorships get away with holding political prisoners forever and ever). As for the pictures, they were probably taken from the sex offender registry that these guys are already listed on.

Personally, I think it is about time we started caring less for the right to privacy of those accused of sex crimes and more to the rights of everyone else to not be kept in the dark about these activities. If one of these guys was babysitting your kids I’ll bet you’d be darn glad to know he was arrested for soliciting sex in the park...

Mr. Riley was the pastor at First Baptist Church in Rogersville, Tennessee.

As for Mr. Leach, he is a diagnostician for four different elementary schools (Cherokee, Fairmont, Mt. View, Towne Acres) in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Mr. Riley no longer has a job, and something tells me that the same will hold true for Mr. Leach, in the near future.

I think my favorite offender is the aptly named Louis Meatte.

Not Andy (Anderson) Griffith? I wonder if he's from North Carolina.

This is behavior the left would not only have us accept, but also approve of. Its just an “alternative lifestyle” and anyone who opposes it is full of hate and narrow minded. Garbage in, garbage out....

Some of the ‘Christian’ women my wife works with were cackling about this; making fun of the queers, until one of them shot himself earlier today...now they “feel bad” for making fun of them. Funny how that works...
