No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffusd and Virtue is preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders. - Samuel Adams
TOPICS: Culture/Society; Philosophy
KEYWORDS: education; ignorance; knowledge; liberty
Our founders were painfully aware that, at the end of the day, our spiritual and moral condition will determine our fate as individuals and as a country. Like the frog sitting in the ever-increasing heated water, weve become insensitive to the decline of knowledge, wisdom and virtue and the dangers of the slow decay of the Christian values which was the hidden strength of American culture.
Ultimately, the answer to our malaise is not another political band aid, but a cancer-killing spiritual awakening.

I believe you are spot on correct. I do not believe we have descended far enough, yet, for that to happen.
Lord, grant that enough come out the other side from which You can rebuild. Amen!

A few years back the beer company named after Sam Adams was sponsoring a radio show broadcasting an employee performing (simulated?) sex acts in a cathedral. That’s how far we’ve fallen.

A friend of mine yesterday stated, "I do not believe that Americans any longer know the difference between Right and Wrong and that will ultimately be our downfall."
Wow, twice in two days now I've heard it. How prophetic is that?

Generally speaking, IMHO, the public schools are graduating legions of ignoramuses who are well versed in the wiles of permissiveness.............we are headed in that dreaded direction (chains) at an ever increasing rate................this is global warming x 10,000!
