Update: Moonbats continue to push to kick Rush off the Armed Forces Network. More here.
*** So, word is that the Democrats will introduce a House resolution Monday condemning Rush Limbaugh for his remarks about phony soldiers. Brian Maloney points out that ABC News aired a report on phony soldiers and Operation Stolen Valor two days before Rush made his remarks. Asks Maloney: Given the overwhelming evidence to support Limbaughs contention that he really was talking about phony soldiers who have faked their service, how does the left justify continuing this fabrication?
Here is what this phony fiasco is really all about: Its about the MoveOn.org Democrats trying to save face in the aftermath of the disastrous General Betray Us smear. They want their own moment of righteous (or rather, lefteous) indignation, their own empty proof that they really, really, really do support the troops. They want to shift attention away from MoveOn.org, its bully tactics, and its thug brethren at Media Matters. They are making a pathetic attempt to equate the Betray Us attackwhich was deliberately timed for publication and maximum p.r. damage to our military command when the world was watching our top general in Iraq testifying in Congresswith a radio talk show hosts ruminations about anti-war soldiers who have faked their military records/history.
Bottom-of-the-barrel desperation.
I have written and reported extensively on the Winter Soldier Syndrome phenomenon...Winter Soldier Syndrome will only be cured when the costs of slandering the troops outweigh the benefits. Exposing Scott Thomas Beauchamp and his brethren matters because the truth matters. The honor of the military matters. The credibility of the media matters. Think it doesnt make a difference? Imagine where Sen. John Kerry would be now if the Internet had been around in 1971.
Instead of confronting the problem, MoveOn.org/MediaMatters Democrats are preparing to shoot the messenger.
The reported sponsor of the resolution is Democrat Rep. Mark Udall. Hes running for Senate in Colorado. Yes, hes trying to win a Senate seat by running against Rush Limbaugh. been drafted for that purpose.
Like the Betray Us ad, this, too, will ultimately backfire.
As my post yesterday ...underscored, the unhinged Left is beginning to alienate its own base with its any-means-necessary tactics. You can only shoot yourself in the foot so many times
Glenn Reynolds spells it out: the intent is to limit the ability of people like Limbaugh or OReilly to drive stories in the mainstream news as we get closer to the election. Expect more of this, with more targets.
Yes. In other words: A backdoor restoration of the Fairness Doctrine.
know=no
Has any Republican stood up to take them on?
This is another Dan Rather moment.
The Democrats are deplorable and have no shame.
I rather doubt accept for Chris Matthews, Al Franken and Kieth Doberman that any one other than a left wing kook fringe muck diver really has paid much attention to the inept actions of our Senators.
Senator Reid and the Democrats have done absolutely nothing since their take over accept excoriate any and all who disagree with them.
I guess we should all do what we think best.
But IMHO, we will get more mileage out of this if we let Harry go ahead and start the hearing, based on media lies that are easily disproven, and THEN hammer him. The last thing we want to do is to warn him off making such a stupid move.
If it was one of the president’s aids he was attacking, I would say differently, because Bush has shown himself unwilling to defend his subordinates or himself in the face of lying attacks. But Rush will hit back, and he will do so very effectively, with a lot of help from people like Michelle Malkin and the folks who crushed Dan Rather for sticking his neck out with transparent lies.
Another Moonbat from the Udall family. They are a Mormon family from SE Arizona. They certainly don’t preach traditional LDS core values!
I don’t know; I just tuned in at the end of Harkin’s dispicable comments. Harkin is prodding the Republicans to vote, in essence, against Rush...asking them if they have the courage to stand up to Rush. It’s MoveOn Redux.
“Im going to be pissed if there is no Republican willing to lash back forcefully at Harry Reid.”
DITTO!
He hasn’t called for a hearing, and there will be no hearing, because a quick review of the transcript would make it crystal clear that Dirty and his friends are lying through their teeth, and/or don’t know what they are talking about. I can’t see the Democrats having hearing to bring attention to that. They will just keep harping on their lies, taking no notice of reality.
Man, Dingy is one ugly P.O.S.
Must be nice to be able to slander people with impunity, since Congress critters cannot be held accountable in the courts for anything they say in the Chamber.
Of course, they must think that 20,000,000 listeners (and goodness knows how many 24/7 subscribers - I think it’s upwards of 40,000,000, including our men and women overseas), they must not think we’ll remember what they’ve said.
No one from our side getting up and speaking yet?
There are some misguided conservatives who have a pathological need to be perceived as ‘fair and balanced’.
Like BOR, if they justifiably criticize the Left(move on), they feel the need to equally criticize something on the Right in the name of ‘fairness’, regardless of the truth of the situation.
They believe that this gives them ‘street cred’ and a back-door when they get called out by the Left on the stand they took.
No wonder many Republicans are called ‘gutless’.
Fortunately, some of what Murtha said re the troops was said out of the chamber...which is why he's being sued by one of the "cold-blooded, murdering" US soldiers!
OMG!! Rush really needs to take this on in a big way. Does our Constitution really allow for elected officials to stand on the senate floor and make such heinous attacks on a private citizen with complete immunity? Can Rush demand to be heard in the senate to respond to this? WTF!?!
I don’t know how much time conservative senators can spend learning the correct story...I know that some such as Jeff Sessions would get up & defend Rush in a second...unless they’re just keeping their powder dry...
Most excellent....most excellent!
I hope the jury awards heavy punitives against him.
