Background aside, GOP women still really like Rudy Giuliani
LA Times ^ | 30 September 2007 | Scott Martelle, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

Rudolph W. Giuliani is married to his third wife, his kids barely talk to him and he's comfortable with leaving intact the national policy permitting abortion.

Oh -- and he's the former mayor of New York City, a modern Gomorrah to many here at the biennial conference of the National Federation of Republican Women.

You'd think that Giuliani would get little more than a polite round of applause from the mostly conservative crowd of 2,000 women. But as the only Republican presidential candidate to travel to the desert this weekend to address the group, Giuliani scored some solid points with -- and a few standing ovations from -- a key constituency, the women activists within his own party.

"We're the worker bees," said Cathy Philips, a delegate from Lakeland, Fla., after Giuliani spoke She added that many attendees were disappointed that other Republican contenders skipped the conference of the group, a 100,000-member grass-roots organization that dates to 1938. "I heard some women say last night they felt offended, almost, that all the others didn't see fit to come."

...But a Gallup Poll released Friday shows a radical shift in the landscape, with Giuliani enjoying slightly more support among women than men, 34% to 31%. Thompson still faced a gender gap, getting support from 25% of men but 16% of women -- something convention-goers suggested was rooted in personal reactions to Thompson's second wife, Jeri. She is more than two decades younger than Thompson and she has shocked some conservative sensibilities by wearing outfits with plunging necklines.

You can’t be serious! Do you really believe Rudy Giuliani is a homosexual?

I have not said anything of this sort. I have no idea what his story is . . . and neither, quite frankly, do you.

I do know, however, that the guy is a freaking weirdo. And for the life of me, I can't understand why so many people who call themselves "conservatives" have fallen in love with this effete, lisping, big-government leftist from New York City.

There is no story. He dressed up in drag as a joke. Apparently one that some don’t understand. There is no way he can disprove a negative. If you believe he is a homosexual or has leanings that way, he cannot disprove your suspicions.

You would be better to call him a SOB for not being pro-life and be on firmer ground. That is the issue is it not?

Define these GOP women.

Actually, Rudy will lose these women voters once his new wife gets more publicity. She's not going to help him at all.

It is no surprise, American women love men of means and power that treat women like ashtrays. So you want a list?

Rudy911 is a low life to clear thinking people in this world.

I suppose you think Milton Berl and Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis were fags too. That photo is pretty out of context.

I would not have voted for them either, fellow Freeper.

At least they admitted that they were just clowns.
They did not pretend to be the leader of our country.

Just clowns.

“and he’s comfortable with leaving intact the national policy permitting abortion.”

And he’ll get my vote only after I’m dead and start voting for liberals.

“I can think of nothing the demorats would like more than to see this clown as the GOP nominee.”

It’ll split the party. If you think 2006 was bad, nominate this limp-wristed little fem-bot and watch half the damned party sit home!

I would expect the LA Times to report that GOP women like Rudy. In my opinion the MSM wants Rudy to win the Republican nomination to insure a Hillary win. This GOP woman does not dislike Rudy, but I will not vote for him in the primary because he is just to liberal.

There is much fault to be found with Rudy. I am by no means satisfied with him as the GOP candidate. There are two things I like about him: 1) He is tough as nails and the moslem radicals will discover they have a bulldog latched onto their behinds. This to me is the number one issue facing the next President. 2) He is too liberal on several important issues but he is not a Democrat. In fact, he has taken more swings that have connected with the jackass jaw than any other candidate. I’m tired of the “new tone.” Unlike Fred he is a relentless campaigner. He has the best chance to beat the Clintons. Several swing states will fall into the GOP column. NJ and Pennn are the most notable. A Rudy presidency is far preferable to Mrs Bill Clinton in the White House with a strong jackass majority in Congress. Does this irritate ideological Puritans? Read their posts. I believe most of those folks are not in touch with the severe anti-GOP mood prevailing in most of the country. They also can’t quite forsee the disastrous consequences at home and abroad of another all jackass government. I sympathize with the Puritans black and white orientation but I must live in this world one day at a time. I will enjoy the light when I get to heaven.

- God, you’re scary! I’m just glad that you represent less than 2% of the base.

Okay, This has bothered me for a long time but I’m finally ready with my final decision. Rudy DOES make a better looking woman than a man.
