Catherine Herridge just had a FOX NEWS ALERT, confirming two separate sources say Gingrich will NOT run for President in 2008.

I hope so
Fred’s! (Blatant speculation ON).
I think both Newt and Rudy pose as bigger targets for the Clinton/Moveon/MSM combined slime machine than Fred would. Go Fred Go!
Fred would be better off choosing someone from the mid-west or even California as his running mate. Someone with regional or national name recognition.
Newt may be a target, but I’m not convinced that Thompson can win. I hope he can, as it looks increasingly like he’ll be the guy.
>>Fred is a southener. I doubt hed be picking another southerner as his running mate. (Note: Florida isn’t really a southern state.)

For electability you are right. I was thinking about help in governing but that may not be the key factor.
” do not see this story.... where is the direct link?”
Initially it was just mentioned on FoxNews TV program, now they have the news in a short article, here is the link.

“WASHINGTON â Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won’t run for president in 2008, FOX News learned Saturday.
Gingrich is expected to make an official announcement later on Saturday, two sources told FOX News.”
What will be interesting to see, is where his supporters will go. If they go to Fred, that will give him probably another 5%+.
It is a wise decision. I wouldn’t vote for him or the other serial adulterer that’s in the race now.
FOX NEWS: GINGRICH WILL NOT RUN FOR PRESIDENT
“Thank you Newt. IMHO you will make a fine addition to the Thompson administration.”
I wonder if FOX got this right? Thought I heard his decision was not going to be made until after his “idea conference” (?) was over, and thought that was not until Monday Oct.8th. Maybe I heard wrong. I do not think Newt has a chance even if he does run.
Someone call 60 Minutes.
Now he is waiting to be Sec.State in Hillary’s cabinet.
It as well to me that he didn’t, since I don’t rate him as high as I do several other candidates on Second Amendment issues.
Newt is a very shrewd man. He definately sounded like he was going to run, he speaks excellently and thinks outside the box.
My guess is once he came out and made some noise this past week, he got some heavy duty calls. Thompson doesn’t need him up there stealing his voting base.
Newt got something good, I bet.
You know, we haven’t played the who Fred will choose for vice president game yet. Let’s pander. Who’s a hispanic conserative?
Giuliani would destroy it for a lot longer than that. We don't need two political parties to the left-of-center. If you think the Republican Party is just NOT liberal enough, and you want to accelerate the Party's movement to the left, Rudy is the right man at the right time.
Having said that, Newt's (although he had no chance of ever being elected) removal from the race actually (and sadly) helps JulieAnnie--as it keeps the entire field from moving further to the right.
Newt seems as though he wants to appeal to Democrats before he appeals to Republicans.
It would work, too......they’ll take anything Hegelian or Hagelian, LOL
I agree.
Although, I didn’t count out Newt’s chances to the same degree. It would have been difficult, but not impossible, for him to win.
The Democrats, after all, are running Hillary.
That’s good news.
