WASHINGTON, September 28, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An online database, freely available to the public, allows one to search for reported adverse effects from vaccines. The database covering data for the United States includes the controversial Merck HPV vaccine Gardasil, identified as "HPV4" in the database.
The US Government's Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database indicates that there have been 7 deaths associated with administration of Gardasil. Age is listed for four of the girls who died at: 11, 12, 15 and 19.
VAERS lists 3,137 reported adverse effects stemming from Gardasil. The database is voluntary and thus is unlikely to include all adverse effects from the vaccine.
The database, placed online by the National Vaccine Information Center, also indicates 44 adverse effects associated with the vaccine's administration were considered "life threatening." In 94 cases, vaccine recipients required hospitalization.

the number of new drugs that first create and alarm and then get pulled from the market has been increasing alarmingly in the past few years.
I stopped taking Vioxx before it got pulled, for ex., and have stopped taking Fosamax because of some really frightening side effects reported...
I was prescribed Baycol (a statin) a few years back - but didn't take it due to reports of serious side effects. It was finally taken of the market.
I have had doctors urge me to take the HRT (hormone replacement drugs) for years. I didn't like the reports and didn't take them. Now the dangers are widely known.
Two years ago, the FDS even issued a warning on ALL drugs from one well known company.
This problem has grown to the point where drugs proven dangerous can stay on the market by putting a 'black box' warning on their product. Case in point:
http://www.drugrecalls.com/
an excerpt from the above site:
On August 14, 2007, the FDA announced that GlaxoSmithKline agreed to add a "black-box" label to Avandia warning that Avandia may cause or worsen heart failure and that patients should be closely monitored. A "black box" label is the most severe warning a prescription drug can carry. The announcement follows a July 30, 2007 FDA advisory meeting which concluded that the data shows that Avandia increases heart risks and recommended a black-box warning.
FDA Avandia Safety Alert:
43% Heart Attack Increase The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is aware of a potential safety issue related to Avandia (rosiglitazone), a drug approved to treat type 2 diabetes. Recently released safety data from controlled clinical trials shows a significant increase in the risk of heart attack and heart-related deaths in patients using Avandia. We have received numerous reports of serious side effects and deaths...
****************************************** Ortho Evra Warning
Numerous lawsuits have been filed by users of the Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch alleging that the maker knowingly misinformed the public about the drug's risk of severe potentially fatal side effects, including heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolisms, deep vein thrombosis, and blood clots. According to records obtained by the FDA women using Ortho Evra in 2004 were three times as likely as women using birth control pills to die or develop nonfatal blood clots. In November 2005 the company updated its warning label for the drug to say that women who use Ortho Evra have a higher risk of experiencing blood clots and other side effects than previously stated.
******************************************************* 'Altho' we need to listen to our doctors, we necc. to also inform ourselves.
There are a number of good books out that give the side effects of prescription drugs = one I find the best - and cheapest - is "The Pill Book" - it is republished yearly to keep up with the new drugs. It's essential to have.
Some drugs save our lives and our health = but we have to do our own research.....we cannot rely solely on the FDA to protect us - they are too often a day late and a dollar short...
Love you all
It’s not a cancer vaccine. It’s an HPV vaccine that is BELIEVED to maybe reduce the chance of developing cervical cancer later.
Course, PAP tests detect it before it’s an issue, so regular PAP smears will work better.
Baloney.
The FDA vaccines program added it to the recommended patients list. 6 months later, anyone who qualified under the Vaccines for Children program - Medicaid, CHIP, the uninsured children - could get the vaccine for free through their doctors or county clinics.
Take a look at the reports at the government’s “Clinical Trials” website:
http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT00092521
Is it your opinion that a grown woman is unable to avoid sexually transmitted diseases on her own?
Then why are we talking about it?
Merck took a huge hit on Vioxx and needed a “home run” — what better than a vaccine that could be pushed on every woman in the country.
How about tetanus?
And what about the girl who marries a boy who wasn’t raised as well as we were?
Furthermore, women will still need to have pap smears so it seems that this is nothing but just one more opportunity to rake in big bucks for the pharmaceutical companies,Merck in particular. Remember, that they are pushing for the vaccine to be administered to all 11 and 12 year olds in the nation. I believe the cost to accomplish this was $168.00 a pop. Think about all the children whose health care is being supported by taxes to those other than their parents.
Additionally, and probably more frightening is the fact that it is relatively untested with regards to future damages. I can see a sterility as a possibility,or a rash of deformed babies like the Thalidomide babies as well as the possibility of other defects incurred when the child was in the womb that show up long after birth. A fairly recent example was the hormone administered to pregnant women that caused their daughters to develop early onset uterine cancer. The young women developed the cancer when they were in their teens, twenties and thirties.
If good conservatives such as Freepers are going to support this ridiculous vaccine then I would say we all might as well pack it up,it's almost over.
I don’t want to argue with you. I want information.
Raymann see my post #68,I think you will find it interesting.
Give me a usable link...
Are you certain you want to talk about the government’s clinical trials?

How many repeat paps will this vaccine avoid? How many biopsies, freezings, conizations with the risk of premature birth, and hysterectomies?
If it prevents one or two cases of newborn transmission and the lung and throat disease in these children, that will be a wonderful thing.

Ping to those on the “Perry orders anti-cancer vaccine for schoolgirls” thread. I recall that side effects were being hotly debated at the time.
I thought you might be interested in the follow-up.
Perhaps the better question is what will this to when given to millions of girls at the onset of puberty? Will they be able to have children? Or this is a new "wonder drug" like thalidomide was several decades ago? Because these are the real questions.
At what expense? Death of the girls getting the vaccine? Isn’t that what it’s supposed to PREVENT; unnecessary deaths?
PAP tests would have been safer.
Yes, where is the evidence that a PAP test is harmful? Should they just be done away with since there is a new “wonder drug”?
Problem is, people want a perfect life guraranteed to them and it just isn’t going to happen. You weigh the risks and make your decisions. I NEVER heard of PAP tests and biopsies being anything more than uncomfortable. Certainly less of a problem that dying or Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Yes, the ones which are repeated in many labs, in many countries and reach the same results are about as reliable as you can get.
If you’ll note, the reports you link to all come from the same report. You’ve linked to copies and paraphrases.
The FDA is not necessary part of research. However, the Clinical Trials site had functional links and further information.
However, that’s not enough to dismiss peer-reviewed, published material from several labs. Especially after a period of time has passed for more “vetting.”
It’s pretty easy to sift the information coming through. Look for reliable sources, multiple sources that come to the same conclusion but which aren’t quoting the same report, etc.
Wagglebee, how many times do I have to repeat, “association” does not mean “causation”? (22 deaths have been associated with the tetanus shot, according to the VAERS site. We have antibiotics that will kill the tetanus bacteria. However, after the toxin shows up, there’s not much we can do but wait it out. The first person to live through lock jaw was in 1998.)
We’ve been giving multiple vaccines to babies for more than 40 years. Repeating MMR at 12, with a booster Td around that time. (I have much more concern about the MMR made with antigen particles harvested from virus grown in in human fetal cells than this recombinant DNA vaccine for HPV, by the way. And I really don’t like the chicken pox vaccine.)
The babies born after the vaccine don’t have any more troubles than is normal for the population.
As I wrote, the repeat paps, the conizations, not to mention the anxiety, the risk of infertility due to incompetent cervix, and the risk of transmitting to the baby at birth are worth the shots.
