Merck took a huge hit on Vioxx and needed a “home run” — what better than a vaccine that could be pushed on every woman in the country.
How many repeat paps will this vaccine avoid? How many biopsies, freezings, conizations with the risk of premature birth, and hysterectomies?
If it prevents one or two cases of newborn transmission and the lung and throat disease in these children, that will be a wonderful thing.
