Twenty-three percent (23%) of Americans approve of an ad run in the New York Times that referred to General Petraeus as General Betray Us. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 58% disapproved. Those figures include 12% who Strongly Approve and 42% who Strongly Disapprove.
Self-identified liberals were evenly divided45% approve and 39% disapprove. However, only 19% of moderate voters approve while 62% disapprove.
Forty-seven percent (47%) of all adults say that stunts like the MoveOn.org ad hurt the cause they believe in. Only 12% believe they help the cause while 17% say there is no impact. Twenty-four percent (24%) are not sure. Again, political liberals are divided with 27% saying they help and 32% taking the opposite view. Fifty percent (50%) of moderates and 57% of conservatives say that these sorts of events hurt the cause the group is trying to promote.
Just 23% said they followed stories of the ad Very Closely while another 23% said they were following it Very Closely. Overall, 49% were not paying much attention.
Twenty-three percent (23%) of American adults have a favorable opinion of MoveOn.org while 39% have an unfavorable opinion. Thirty-eight percent (38%) dont know enough to have an opinion one way or the other. Survey respondents were asked their opinion of MoveOn.org before the New York Times ad was described.
Thirty-five percent (35%) of Democrats have a favorable opinion of the free-spending group while 24% voice the opposite opinion.
Ten percent (10%) of Republicans offered a positive assessment of MoveOn.org while 62% say the opposite.
Among those not affiliated with either major party, the numbers are 21% favorable and 32% unfavorable.
Just 27% of Republicans are not sure what to think of MoveOn.org. That figure jumps to 41% of Democrats and 46% of those not affiliated with either major party.
The GOP needs to hammer Hillary on this because she voted NOT to condemn the ad!
MN Senator Norm Coleman is taking out a full page ad in the local paper tomorrow, going after Al Franken and his silence on the MoveOn ad. Al has been a big fund raiser for MoveOn and that may be why he hasn’t made a peep since the ad came out......
The 23% are MoveOn members...
What’s really scary is that the Dems are now 47% moonbat. I would have thought the habitual drug use would have killed more of them by now.
Only 58% disapprove????? What the hell is wrong with our countrymen?
NUTS
Yea - I saw this poll result announced on all the news casts this evening.
And then I woke up.
A more honest headline would read:
“23% of Americans are Enemy Sympathizers”
What the hell is wrong with our countrymen?
That’s twice the approval rating of Congress.
23% of this country are complete IDIOTS...MOONBATS...LOONS
I was just gonna say... what Republican in their sane mind would approve of MoveOn.org ?
Hardcore values on both sides (like moreon.org ads) will win only their respective core groups leaving the middle in limbo and of course, the other pole in opposition.
The candidate that will win the 2008 election will be the one with a cross-over message that can tilt the middle 40% in their favor.
IMHO negative ads like this one will work against the groups that use them. Think about President Reagan's "Shining city on the hill" speech as an example of garnering that cross-over with a positive and uplifting message.
.
I love that quotation. Until I saw that, not too long ago, I had never know Lee had such a biting wit. Not that he was droll or boring, but that he was such a gentlemen’s gentlemen that he would never engage in that kind of lighter repartee.
.
Timely and timeless...
and brilliant!
Thank you.
