Hijabbed security guard frisks nun (thanks to all who sent this in).

Of course there should be random searches, and no one should be exempt -- if any group is exempt, its dress will soon be adopted by the terrorists.

But there is an absurdity to this photo. And a hint that maybe we would do better devoting our resources to searching those who are more likely to be threats -- were that not so politically incorrect.

I don’t either. I returned from Paris the day after the London plot was busted up. Yow - insert probe now - the French authorities were very thorough (but somehow didn’t seem to come across like the bunch of minimum wage, couldn’t find work elsewhere, numb skulls we have here in the good ol’ USA).

From the photograher, Dean Shaddock: This was captured as I collected my things from airport security (Detroit Metro Concourse A). I think of it as something like a Rorschach test. Is an elderly Catholic nun being frisked by a Muslim security agent the celebration of blind justice? Or is it simply an admission of absurdity?

If you think this photo is absurd then you’re not serious about airport security. As you said, everyone should be checked. If we start profiling people who look arab then they will just send through recruits who look westernized.

There doesn't seem to be a long history of caucasion muzlims blowing up airplanes...

And having a masked muzlim search another masked muzlim for explosives or weapons is something I'd expect to see on Saturday Night Live, not in an actual real life situation...
