WHY DEMOCRATS JUST ABSOLUTELY HATE BEING CALLED .....
I've always being one who likes to get under the skin of the collective left, and glorioski, have I found a way to rattle Democrats. You just refer to their wonderful party as the Democrat Party! Lordy, does this put a burr in their thongs.
Well .. now I think I've found out why! A buddy of mine at CNN (who, for obvious reasons, shall remain unnamed) provided me with some interesting information. Joseph J. Ellis wrote a book called "Founding Brothers, The Revolutionary Generation." I ordered my copy this morning. One of the Amazon.com reviews for this book says "This book is really unique in that it gives a really interesting perspective not only on the men [our founding fathers] , but the dynamic between them." Now in that book by this renowned historian you will find some tasty information on the origination of the word "democrat." Many times I've told you that our founding fathers were none too fond of the idea of democracy, or, as they viewed it, mob rule. Here's the quote:
"... the term "democrat" originated as an epithet and referred to 'one who panders to the crude and mindless whims of the masses.'" Don't you love it? Could anything better define today's Democrat Party? Get with the program folks. It's the Democrat, not the "Democratic" Party.

I just call ‘em the Democrat Ick Party. A little pause will do ya!
Here, try this pronunciation - you have to work on your subtlety to make it just barely noticeable:
Demik (oh so slight pause) RAT (subtle emphasis) ick Party.
btt
FWIW, Republican is both a noun and an adjective. I suspect it started out as an adjective.
So, if they are of the Democratic party, does it not follow they should be called Democratics?
“...”... the term “democrat” originated as an epithet and referred to ‘one who panders to the crude and mindless whims of the masses.’”
I think, instead, it irks them because of the final four letters. Remember the Al Gore commercial where supposedly the "rats" in "Democrats" was subliminally put up on purpose for less than a half second? Even Gore himself said he'd "never seen anything like it" or something.
For whatever reason it sticks in their craw, I'm glad.
I also noticed the President used it today in his news conference. Sweet.
I noticed that too! :) I thought his use was GREAT!
“As one unfortunate man was beheaded, someone in the crowd immediately picked up the head and held it facing the headless body lying on the guillotine so that the bodiless head could see its own headless body before losing consciousness.”
What a wonderful depiction of the forthcoming democrat selection of their next candidate for president!
“... the term “democrat” originated as an epithet and referred
to ‘one who panders to the crude and mindless whims of the masses.’”
It’s a great quote. And describes the Democratic Party I’ve known
for decades.
BUT, I hope it’s accurate.
Seeing how the author of the book, Ellis should get his own chapter
in any new editions of “Stolen Valor”...about the years in which he
LIED to his students...claiming to have served on the ground in
Vietnam, while he was never even went to Vietnam.
He was busing teaching English at West Point, IIRC.
But, as a liar, he should be qualified to explain the dark soul
of the Democratic Party.
And, AFAIK, Ellis hasn’t been caught in any fraud about his publications/books.
That might explained he wasn’t fired from his academic post.
(plus he had the liberal immunity shield like Doris Kerns Goodwin)

Heck I've taken to calling them Rats. It's shorter. They don't seem to like it.
“why democrats just hate being called the democrat party...”
i would love if they were called the lying, murdering, thieving, obnoxious, psychotic, maladjusted, marxist-leninists that they are. (forgot to squeeze swine in there, somewhere.)
Liberal WAS a good, grand term. It meant someone who believed in maximal individual freedom and liberty AND the requisite accompanying personal responsibility.
Key word being ‘was’. Yep you are correct.
Those days are long gone. And we are worse off as a result.
Well now I'm confused. I thought that the emphasis was always here, as in Democ-RAT-ick Party.
What you listed is the “contents of the can” -
what they are called is just the label.
When people figure out what is under the label, the can tries to change its label, but it’s still the same crap underneath.

“I’ve had enough of their Democrap,... er Democrat talking points...”
Well...ya know...if the shoe fits.....Democrat=mindless mass panderers!
Got to love it.
