Vanity: Owner of Boar's Head meats is a huge donor to Democrats

Posted on 09/19/2007 2:47:01 PM PDT by bw17

Just a heads up if you're shopping for lunch meats between now and election 2008. The owner of Boar's Head brand lunch meats is a *HUGE* donor to the DNC. He has given nearly $200,000 to the DNC since 2003...and nearly $900,000 to Democratic 527 groups in 2004.

In 2004, I posted to another forum that he was a very large donor to the Democratic party, and I stated that I was boycotting his brand. Surprisingly, he actually posted a response on the forum, and stated that his "days of political contributions" were over.

Apparently, he lied: http://opensecrets.org/indivs/search.asp?key=xh9as&txtName=brunckhorst,%20frank&txtState=(all%20states)&txtAll=Y&Order=N

If you're buying his products, you're funding members of the Democratic party, including Hillary Clinton. Just an FYI.

Boar’s Head makes the best coldcuts.

Sorry, I cannot join in this boycott.

“And their food is awesome. I buy his products for their quality, not for his personal opinions. It’s just as silly as if a Democrat wouldn’t buy from someone because they were a Republican. Everyone is entitled to their own world view.”

Thanks for the sanity. You’re a rare bird these days.

Most..... no. In my locale I know of only two grocery chains that carry the products.

Asked your deli people. Most all Boars Head meats will be customed sliced to your specs while you wait. Worth a test if you’ve never eaten the product.

Gee - too bad he's feeling bad about making so much money.

I'll quit buying his products so he won't have to suffer so much!!

In the spirit of the Compassionate Conservative, I will follow your lead and help Mr. Brunkhorst fell less guilt.

See this is why I compartmentalize my life. Life is too short to eat crappy meat over something as silly as politics. Enjoy every sandwich, I’m sure there’s somebody that works for the company that’s conservative.

Thanks for the post, will definitely look elsewhere. Those who could care less to boycott these leftest companies are the same ones who could care less about whether the country is run by leftests.

If this is really Frank.

I have boycotted your products for years because I don’t like them. I don’t like the taste.

WRONG. I don’t want the country run by lefties but I also know it’s a two way street. Sure the top dog might be a lefty but what about the people that work for him? My boss at work is a die hard lib, I’m a conservative, so should you boycott the company because of him or support it because of me? My answer is we make a good product so if you’re in our marketplace you should buy on quality and forget the politics. Boar’s Head makes good food, which is what I’m looking for when I’m buying food.

I often buy BH because it is lower in sodium but not anymore.

Are they going to increase the sodium now? :)

Must be an east coast product. Chin up you'll find another!

You should retink your attitude on what you put in your body.

My wife did extensive tests on cold cuts and cheese for a large supermarket chain and Boar's Head won hands down for no preservatives, fillers, taste, etc. Oh, they are expensive but well worth it for the quality.

No more Boars Head, either from the grocery store or the deli counter. I know, a small drop in the ocean. But, hey, I don’t drink French wine anymore and frankly I do not miss it.

Try the Deitz and Watson, I do not know their politics.

Like many if someone is a lefty, I do not support them.

I won't even listen to Seeger or the Boss anymore, Hollywood barely gets a dime...

Believe me, there are others. Give it another try. Thanks. I am not supporting “the other side”.

Would you buy a product if the following notice was written across the packaging?

“Part of the proceeds from the sale of this product will be used to help elect Democrats to Congress and the White House.”
