Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson called Wednesday for obese Americans to be brought under the protection of the Americans for Disabilities Act.
"This is an issue of basic civil rights," said Richardson. "There are no federal laws that protect obese Americans from discrimination in the workplace, school, or anywhere else. This must change."

I believe that the original intent in purchasing the state jet was to use it in the campaign. However, as it became a hot issue and now that there are several groups that are scrutinizing the jets flight logs it would appear that he is not using it and has used it very little. If he were to use it he would have to reimburse the state at the rate of a first class commercial ticket, which does not even come close to the actual flight cost. I think the big question is now that he has put on so much weight and obesity is an issue with him is do we need to buy him a bigger plane?A Cessna Citation is kind of a small plane.

The answer is simple ... when Bill read the speech, he skipped over the sarcasm tag ... or perhaps this conversation was taking place off-stage:
"OMG, did you hear what he just said???"
"Yeah ... oh shiite, he got hold of the parody copy you clowns were fooling around with!"
"Jenkins, you jerk! I told you to shred that copy!"
"Hey, don't blame me ... Fat Mary picked it up and I wasn't about to tell her it was a joke. Besides, you should have seen her proofing it while munching on a donut, nodding her head up and down so her chins wiggled like a Jello commercial. We were laughing so hard we couldn't intercept it. Wiggle!"
"Too late now, guys, we gotta go with it for the rest of the campaign. Nice work, Jenkins ... NOT"

Speaking as an obese person, I can say Bill Richardson is full of horse hockey. I don’t want government protection, I just need to lose weight.

Has the entire country gone completely CRAZY? Unfortunately, no. They know exactly what they are doing. Our 'leaders' will seize upon any opportunity to get more control over your life, no matter how insane it seems. Once they are safely embedded in every single orifice of your body and you are unable to even open your eyes without their permission or breaking some law, they will be happy.

He's a real joke, and good for laughs. He never ceases to amaze me with some of the idiotic things he says. I hope he embarrasses himself as much as he embarrasses me. Fat Chance!!! ;)

Hmm, I work out regularly, lift weights etc. According to the body mass index I'm overweight, borderline obese. Of course, that's just because my height to weight proportion is off - by muscle. You think I can qualify for ADA plates? Wouldn't that look funny heading up to Copper Mtn. to go snowboarding? LOL
Actually, I'd have no use for plates... I always park well out of range of the average lazy dofuss. These people are so overweight they have to swing their SUV doors wide open to get in/out and smack my car. No thanks. I'll walk the extra 50 yds or so - helps me and my car look better. ;-)

I am the same way. I work out 4-5 times a week, but am still 15lbs over my max “ideal” weight.
My wife and I always laugh at the people at the gym who park on the sidewalk or make a parking spot on the end of the row just to be 3 feet closer to the door. You have to wonder about some people. We probably park by people like you. We know the guy with the Lexus isn’t going to hit our car, and we won’t hit his!

So, Mr Richardson, who is going to protect the 130 pound airline passenger from being squished between two 300 pound behemoths on New York to Los Angeles flights? Do we now have to build homes with larger doors, and chairs made out of steel?
Ayn Rand, come back!
