Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson called Wednesday for obese Americans to be brought under the protection of the Americans for Disabilities Act.
"This is an issue of basic civil rights," said Richardson. "There are no federal laws that protect obese Americans from discrimination in the workplace, school, or anywhere else. This must change."

Obesity does not discriminate; everyone is at risk unless we act now.
Our very way of life is at stake; soon, only the canopy-eaters will be acceptable and the rest will be banished to their greasy caves to live out their torpid days in isolation and shame.

No conflict of interest here, if he doesn’t get the vote it is because he is obese.

I kinda liked Richardson. If I *had* to vote Dem, I'd be in favor of him. Heck, I'd take him over more than a few Republicans.
This, while logical, seems like pandering. Politicians pandering? Who'dve thunk it?

Exactly!! Since the late 60s/70s when fast food restaurants became more popular and cheap and high glucose corn syrup started being added to almost EVERYTHING in the processed food supply, obesity has been on the rise in America. Bill’s definitely trying to make friends in that population of people!

Can you imagine the civil rights march for fatties. If they get their voice, Congress will certainly give them pork.

LOL! I don't know. Everything is being made into an illness or a disability - maybe only thirty pounds or so?

Work up to it in stages; the first day just walk to the gym and back home, the second day walk there and go in and watch all the activity, the third and fourth days jog up and back.
By the end of the month you’ll be up to volunteering to put the weights back on the racks and sweeping the parking lot.
By the end of the year you can make yourself a tidy income by washing and waxing the lifetime members’ cars.

It’s amazing that this “disability” is largely found only in America. Couldn't be our sugarcoated, deep-fryed, high caloric diet, could it????
My mothers’ best friend immigrated form Norway over 40 yrs ago and when her relatives come to visit, she refuses to take them to any buffet restaurants because she is so embarrassed by what you see there. The only disease this nation has is a “fork and knife” disease. This comes from someone who just lost 30 lbs through diet and exercise...
